Why were Free Rewards Capped at Level 16!! Posted: 02 Jan 2021 09:11 PM PST In my opinion, the most startling thing about the failure of Artifact 1.0 was the capping of free booster rewards at Level 16. I was blown away by the fact that, whilst the hordes and masses were shouting from the rooftops that the monetization model needs to change, and whilst Artifact was failing at an alarming rate, Valve's response was as follows: We'll give you some free boosters to earn, but we need to cap it at Level 16 because otherwise the prices on the auction house will fall, and this means less of a rake for us. This staggering greediness alone may have caused the game to fail, a lot of people would have been satisfied if they could earn all cards by grinding. Such extravagant greediness! As an analogy, it's like watching a ship that is sinking, all the cargo is falling overboard, and the captain of the ship is worried about finding a seller who is willing to pay market price for all the cargo which is sinking. All Valve needed to do was not cap rewards at Level 16, and state that they are working on a better ladder, and voila the game would have survived today. None of this highly questionable Artifact 2.0. It was all unnecessary. [link] [comments] |
