Posted: 16 Aug 2019 07:35 PM PDT What a contrast there is between Valve and Abrakam! In summary, Valve is incredibly rich and resource-heavy, yet failed to make a successful CCG despite that. Abrakam is a very small and grass-roots company, and is now allegedly going bankrupt (source here), yet this small dev was able to make an amazing game (Faeria), and they are now trying to kickstart a new game (Roguebook), but sadly are allegedly struggling to pay their employees and contractors. If only Valve had the talented designers that Abrakam does! Such a shame. [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Aug 2019 02:49 AM PDT Yo. I am currently in the process of designing and beta testing a study and survey with the aim of examining players' attitudes toward RNG and saltiness in games. This will be a first step of my master thesis in experimental psychology. There is hardly any real research being done with regards to quality and design in digital gaming. I hope to graph how, as players get better at the game, RNG becomes increasingly obvious and intrusive. And how this impacts frustration and feelings of satisfaction with the game. (obviously this is actually kinda complicated) Soon I will post this survey on major gaming subreddits, but in the meantime I'd be so thankful if a fringe subreddit like this (and you know it's true) would help me iron out the issues. Here's the link: https://www.soscisurvey.de/RedditGaming/?act=iI3lj6Ss65fcubgOcUHpXOKq Personally, I still feel like Artifact was amazing, but I also loved Tribes, so idk. I'm here for any feedback or discussion, obviously I love this topic, so leave a comment! [link] [comments]
