    Two types of pro players

Please stop asking for "positivity" and community "support" every time there is criticism, that's not how any of this works.

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 08:35 PM PST

Games that are good are capable of standing on their own merits. This isn't a social movement, it's not a political party- it's a commercial product from a massive corporation.

I have no doubt the Valve designers, programmers, artists, etc. are wonderful people who are passionate and probably cool people, but we're still consumers at the end of the day. People play games because they are fun- if you believe it takes that much work to "support" a game from the community, or if you believe a reddit post is going to severely lower player numbers, then something is wrong with the game.

As the saying goes, "if you have to explain a joke, it's a bad joke." If you have to "support" a game or demand silence from critics, it's probably also a problem with the game- not the audience.

The majority of people still here providing criticism are those that actually do believe in the game and trust Valve, but want to see it made better. I said early on that "critics" are the ones that stick through the thick and thin, but the people demanding positivity usually quit without realizing it's the game itself that was unappealing. I've already seen several people that were swearing Artifact was the greatest CCG ever stop playing, usually with an, "eh, I don't know, I just don't feel like playing anymore" response.

Communities will form organically around games that are appealing to play and where players feel invested. Artifact still has massive room for improvement, and people are deluding themselves into thinking the huge player loss has something to do with a complaint on reddit rather than the state of the game. Communities don't make games, games make communities.

Would we still be playing if the game wasn't made by valve with dota lore?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 06:35 PM PST

After reading a comment here about how good the game is I got myself thinking, what if this game was from a small company, would I be playing it? and the truth is... No, I got into the game because it was a valve game about one of the best MOBAs out there, it was supposed to be huge, and they released with tons of problems that we all accepted it 'cause hey its valve guys they will fix it, but at its core the game is not great, its okish, dont get me wrong I play it every day, but only because Im atached to it like a stockholm syndrome and I dont wanna see it die, I feel like we are all here attached to how great artifact could have been, not for how great it is.

How about just press Enter to chat?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 12:55 PM PST

I like the chat wheel that they recently implemented. It's a cool feature to taunt opponents, but for most of the time, I just want to ask them simple question, like:

    • No God of Wrath on hand?
    • How is your draft win/lose streak?
    • Ggwp

And every time I want to say anything, I have to:

    • Hover at tower
    • Press [Y] while move mouse down (not a natural mouse movement for me)
    • Write something on a small box and press enter

I can hover on anything other than my tower - my creeps for example, but then it is the hovered unit who 'talk'. And it feels weird having the unit speaks for me.

How about just port the chat system from Dota2 over? I think it is simple because Artifact seems well engineered.

I see little use of the chat function, so making it easier to use should make your 'kitchen table experience' vision more real, Valve.

Bonus: I think the voiced lines can be improved too. Lines are cool, but they are more fun to be toyed with than to be used for communication. For actual communication, We should have some kind of pattern for the voiced lines, similar to Hearthstone. Example: Each Hero should have one taunt line, one sorry line, one impressed line, etc... I hover on my Sniper, and I can reliably know that he has a 'Sorry' line, without ever testing with him before.

TLDR: Press Enter to chat, just like in Dota2. Bonus idea on the last paragraph above.

Artifact is still losing players. Is this side effect of Christmas or was update 1.2 just not enough?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 12:15 PM PST

    It's all ogre now.

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 02:04 PM PST

I made a script to tell you your win rate is and win rate per hero in each gauntlet mode.

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 07:02 PM PST

Valve has no proper data API right now but there is some hidden away data we can scrape for overall win-rates and win rates per hero. It's total jank and quite slow but it works for now :)

Follow the instructions in this pastebin to run the script. If this gets popular enough I might make it an add-on. For now you have to use desktop chrome. Results will look like this: image. If you have any problems, post it here. I have gotten a couple people to use it successfully so far.

So, reddit. What is your win rate? Also, what heroes have you done surprisingly well with?

Valve pls, add ticket tournaments with ~50$/100$ steam money prize or same value packs.

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 02:06 AM PST

    5 tickets = 5 dollars

    1 ticket = 1 dollar

64 players pay 1 ticket each and play swiss tournament winner take prize pool. ~ 50$ to winners(or 25 packs) and 14$ to valve. or 55$/9$ or 60$/4$.

128 players pay 1 ticket each and play swiss tournament winner take prize pool. ~ 100$ to winners(or 50 packs) 28$ to valve. or 110$/18$ or 120$/8$.

Game need this. Everyone love to play tournoments with "real" prizes, but its hard to find them. We need something bigger ingame then 5/2 drafts with small prizes.

Artifact Team league, A new way to play with your friends!

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 12:21 PM PST

    Artifact Team League

The ATL is a team based artifact league! Each team's roster will consist of four players and optional subs. The match format is best-of-one KOF, similar to king-of-the-hill. Match days are Tuesday or Thursday nights, and every match will be streamed!

We will start season one with eight teams, two divisions of four. The top two teams from each division will advance to the playoffs! We expect season one to start on January 8th and finish by February 29th.

When you sign up you will be asked if you want to play Tuesday or Thursday. We will do the best we can to honor each team's wishes. Once the season starts you will be given your schedule! Each week your match will be either match 1 or 2. For streaming purposes, match one will always start at 8pm EST, and match 2 will follow right AFTER match 1.

Matches will be between teams of four players with four corresponding decks. The starting players/decks will play a best-of-one. The losing team will then pick any of their three remaining players to face the winner of the first game. This continues until a team has all four of their players eliminated, at which point they lose the match. In the event of a draw, the game will be replayed.

Decks must be submitted to the discord channel "deck lists" under the team houses category before 7:30 PM EST on the day you play (only admins can see this channel, you may post it as early as you want, but then can't change decks!). It will be one message from the team captain with the players names, and a link to the EXACT decks they will play. You must also declare a starting player. Example:

    Team Super Awesome week 1

Starter - TSAPlayer1 - Link to deck list from game client

TSAPlayer2 - Link to deck list from game client

TSAPlayer3 - Link to deck list from game client

TSAPlayer4 - Link to deck list from game client

All deck lists will be posted after each week is completed.

Sign ups are open here until January 4th. Depending on the amount of interest we may close sign-up's early, we may also have play-in matches.

How to be 100% SURE you can buy Horn of the Alpha | Draft | Artifact

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 07:23 PM PST

I really hate BM and never do it myself, but...

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 03:48 PM PST

... I just had a match against a mono red that killed all of my Red/Blue heroes on turn 1, and he used bristelback's line "Today is not your day", so I vowed to do my best to win.

I held my towers until turn mana 11, used arcane assault on my lane 3 2 times, got my bolt of damocles, his tower in lane 1 was at 9 health, and I happened to have bristelback alive there.

So I deployed my blue hero, selected the exact same line he did at the beginning, and destroyed his tower, winning the game.

I never felt so much satisfaction... he deserved it.

(sorry, none of my friends play artifact and I had to share it with someone =) )
