Listen, if you want to enjoy the game (and currently enjoy the game), stay away from reddit

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 10:45 AM PST

Ive had the same experience watching all of the games ive enjoyed playing this year. Excitement from release and beta, and then huge letdowns from the vocal minority (sometimes the majority *cough* 76). But one thing ive really noticed is that staying away from the subreddits and all the negativity is what makes me enjoy the game more.

Blops 4 subreddit is nothing but complaining , even though the game is in a really good state 2 months after release. This game has a ton of negativity/worry for something that is going to grow (probably slowly) with more expansions and updates. People are still playing, and thats all that matters.

Constantly complaining does nothing to incentivize the devs to do anything unless its a bug or game ruining experience. And even then changing things like that takes time. I think of it kinda like getting a paper back when i was in school. The rule was always wait 24-48 hours to see if you really deserve the grade you got before talking to people. Same applies for this game, and all others. Wait for the patches (its the holiday season so they arent going to be extremely soon), digest the content, and THEN make constructive critisism in a way that actually HELPS the devs understand what we suggest/want. not BLAH BLAH BLAH THIS IS OP the second you lose to a card in a new expansion.

By unsubbing from this subreddit, BLOPS , and every other game that ive been playing (except r6s, those guys are nice), my personal experience has improved so much in enjoying the game. Even if the game gets a little stale from seeing the same decks, that just means i can go to draft. and im a draft fiend (although i know not everyone likes that, im a ex-mtg drafthead).

We dont need to worry about this game dying, just enjoy playing. Valve probably made all their money back plus more just from transactions that happen on the marketplace with the cards, even with the buyback they did. They wouldnt have released the game if they were going to drop it like a hot potato, especially since they PATCHED IN THINGS WE ASKED FOR (rating, progression, and the likes).

Tl;DR : if you want to enjoy yourself and your game experience, dont come to reddit. It will have you doubting the game and doubting your enjoyment of the game, and you should just play instead. Play and improve, and wait for the next patch to drop. Valve will keep the playerbase interested.\

EDIT: I looked at comments just now. its HILARIOUS to see all of the comments that were +30-40 karma a couple of hours ago at -10 or lower. Thats a dead givaway on the mentality of the sub. Everything somewhat positive gets downvoted (with some stupid shit here and there. dunno if they are just bad jokes). Everything criticizing gets upvoted. Only a few have survived. and they are the ones that are doing both critique and supporting the game. People flock to negativity because its easier to put down than to build up hah

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 10:18 AM PST

Hi! We're Mainline. Last week, we started our first $500 Artifact Weekly called Ancient Wars. We did great, our discord blew up to over 800 people in just a few days! We really enjoyed the community, and streaming for you guys with production/casters.

However we have a new goal this week. We hope to get eyes on our stream so we can show our bosses that there is a community here. This matters to us, because we want to be able to continue providing this tournament for you. Also, there may be opportunity for growth of the prize pool if the numbers back it up. We want to show them that the community will not only participate in the tournament, but can show up and support our production team and casters. Can you help us get viewership this week?

We are streaming RIGHT NOW on Twitch

Please come show your support, and bring your friends. 🙂

Want to get involved in our tournaments? Join our discord

EDIT: Thank you guys so much for your support!! I can't wait to keep it going. <3

Artifact is a game about educated guesses

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 08:41 PM PST

That's it's differential. Unlike magic or hearthstone, you need to make decisions trying to guess what your opponent is going to do all the time, not only when there are 2 untapped islands and you're thinking about baiting counterspell with a worse spell than the other one you've got. Simultaneously (deploy) or sequentially (initiative, heal your hero before he takes some damage).

Seeing the game in this way would make it feel less frustrating. You'd guess your opponent would go for the easy lane one and deployed 2 blue heroes there to avoid coup de grace and then annihilate him, he goes for the hard lane, gives up his last hero on the easy lane killing your blue hero on the hard one with a gank and hits for lethal with double assault ladders that you can't annihilate.

In this example, he guessed right what you were going to do, while you guessed wrong. While your play was strategically correct, your guess wasn't correct. Guessing happens at other games, in this one is a major mechanic you will see it at least once every round and lose a lot over it.

It's a thing that really makes the game stand out. A crazy roullete of RNG around a series of decisions influenced by the players trying to track each other's actions.

I am playing for 5001$ Best Oof 15 Draft Match against KG. Doudou right now

Hello guys! My second tournament came to the final duel, and I will be playing against KG captain Doudou today :) We have probably started by the time you see this, it will be streamed at my classic /stanislavcifka twitch channel.

    • We will draft a deck and play exactly 3 games with it.
    • Draws don't count and are completely ignored like the game never happened.
    • We will draft a new deck every time we are finished with 3 games.
    • Whoever wins 8 games first, wins the 5001$ bounty! There is a 100 pack prize for the second place as well.

Wish me luck guys, Doudou is definitely very solid opponent :)

Artifact Team League, Meaningful games with your friends!

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 06:54 PM PST

    Artifact Team League

The ATL is a team based artifact league! Each team's roster will consist of four players and optional subs. The match format is best-of-one KOF, similar to king-of-the-hill. Match days are Tuesday or Thursday nights, and every match will be streamed!

We will start season one with eight teams, two divisions of four. The top two teams from each division will advance to the playoffs! We expect season one to start on January 8th and finish by February 29th.

When you sign up you will be asked if you want to play Tuesday or Sunday. We will do the best we can to honor each team's wishes. Once the season starts you will be given your schedule! Each week your match will be either match 1 or 2. For streaming purposes, match one will always start at 8pm EST, and match 2 will follow right AFTER match 1.

Matches will be between teams of four players with four corresponding decks. The starting players/decks will play a best-of-one. The losing team will then pick any of their three remaining players to face the winner of the first game. This continues until a team has all four of their players eliminated, at which point they lose the match. In the event of a draw, the game will be replayed. A normal match would look like...

    Team Super [4:2] Team Okay

    TS.Player1 (Mono Blue) [1:0] TO.Player1 (RG Ramp)

    TS.Player1 (Mono Blue) [2:0] TO.Player2 (Mono Blue)

    TS.Player1 (Mono Blue) [2:1] TO.Player3 (RB Aggro)

    TS.Player2 (BU Payday) [3:1] TO.Player3 (RB Aggro)

    TS.Player2 (BU Payday) [3:2] TO.Player4 (RU Control)

    TS.Player3 (RB Aggro) [4:2] TO.Player4 (RU Control)

This allows the losing team to pick a deck the believe should be particularly suited to counter other decks, as a TEAM it will be very important to make sure you have a strong mix that together can beat everything. If you as a team work and make 1 amazing deck, feel free for all four of you to bring it! Just don't be shocked if you run into one deck you cant beat!

All deck lists will be posted after each week is completed, this match report would also link to the real deck's used by each player.

Sign ups are open here until January 4th. Depending on the amount of interest we may close sign-up's early, we may also have play-in matches.

Skill ratings discourage prize play players from playing casual game modes

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 03:12 PM PST

Having a tied skill rating means if you play casual modes for a long time than go back to prize play, you will face much harder opponents than you'd at SR lvl 1.

Therefore any sensible person that wants to win packs is not going to play casual modes to not rank up, and make things harder for himself in prize play.

    Archetype Discussion: Green/Black

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 02:07 PM PST

I've never seen many people playing Green-Black or Black-Green and I wanted to ask the community a few things about the archetype, since I never see it discussed either.

The one obvious composition involves Bounty Hunter, Payday and Revtel Convoy to make their gold ramp up quickly, but besides that has anyone found any success with other variants? What are your optimal Green-Black and Black-Green compositions, and when is 3B-2G favored over 3G-2B?

Sorry if this is a weird question, but I just like this archetype and I'm curious if anyone knows of ways to use less popular heroes like Storm Spirit, Winter Wyvern, Chen, Rix, etc? Thanks!

Can someone explain to me what exactly is the problem if all the cards are free?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 02:13 AM PST

I am sorry I just can't see what is wrong in paying 20-40$ for each expansion and have all cards (or better yet totally free like Dota 2).

What are the most kept up to date/must know Artifact sites/resources right now?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 12:46 PM PST

After the initial release hype died down, it seemed like a lot of content creators/developers/community leaders who built Artifact resources/podcasts/videos/content/tools/etc. kind of just disappeared and a lot of those sites/resources aren't really kept up to date.

Does anybody have a shortlist of really active/up to date/committed artifact sites and resources .. podcasts .. youtube channels .. etc. all welcome. thanks.

Valve: please adjust the skill rating.

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 05:23 PM PST

The skill rating should show you your highest rating in a season (like the medals in DOTA), based on your performance. Actually you will ALWAYS get a level up after two consecutive wins, no matter how often you loose (abandon/surrender) before. Such a rating is absolutely useless an say nothing at all.

I'm OK with the idea, that it con not decrease (even if i would like the more). But the rating should be a lot smarter then it is actually.

How to determine what cards to draft multiples of and what cards to only carry 1 or 2 of in draft?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 12:39 PM PST

What are the cards that you typically want x3 of .. or x2 of .. and what kind of cards do you only keep 1 of in draft? I tried googling and searching but came up empty. Sorry i am new to card games so i apologize if this is a stupid question.

Is there an API to find stats in this game?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2018 12:19 PM PST

In Dota 2 there are stats/data on everything. The developer created a very good API for that game. Is there anything with stat tracking/ability to analyze your game/view data on decks that are winning the most/etc.?
