    Today, I received Artifact.

    Today, I received Artifact.

Today, I received Artifact. Thank you to my benefactor!

What is funny is that today is also the day on which Valve promoted the "Interactive Recommender" (IR) on their homepage. For these of you who do not know, the IR is a recommendation tool which analyses your whole Steam library (playtime, most recently played games, etc.) and automatically suggests games which similar players have played, but which you are missing from your library. Would you be able to guess what was my first suggestion? Leftmost is #1.

Suggestion of the Interactive Recommender before I received Artifact

The recommender has adjusted to my updated library, and suggests a slightly different ranking of games:

Anyway, I have just completed the two tutorials. Even though I already knew everything because of all of my readings about the game, it took quite a long time. The game is a feast for the eyes. Hopefully, Valve manages to reboot it.

In it for the long haul!

    I am a doggie!

    Six steps to save Artifact

    Posted: 19 Sep 2019 09:27 PM PDT

    1. Free. As in Free Beer.

Literally. There is no point in paying to queue ages for a game. In an online game, less than 10K players means nobody is playing it. Stats doesn't lie. This game is dead.

    2. Single lane

This has to be done to take out the multiple lanning game. It's like Dota 2 Turbo. Less time means less afraid to commit and play just one game.

    3. Pay for Slots, not Cards

Let anybody win a card every 10 wins in single lane, or 3 on pro mode (three lanes). Every 5 cards you get a Rare of your choice, every 10 a Mythical, and so on. At this time, Artifact should offer you something for wasting your time on it rather than nothing.

You will have limited card slots. If you win a card but you don't have the space, the card will be "on hold" until you buy a slot, or recycle cards.

    4. Allow recycling cards

Four cards of one rarity will give you one of the same rarity. Simple as fuck. Odds? 40% a card you don't have, 30% you less have in copies, 20% you have. Like that.

    5. Sell cosmetics: borders, custom art, foil effects, etc.

Open the game to content creators and let them sell their cosmetics. Put them on sale. Get a cut.

    6. Single Cards for Sale

Most used cards on winning games get higher prices, less used on loses get lower prices.

When I see these six points executed, I may let Artifact a chance on me. Until then, treating this as an MTG competitor is like comparing CS:GO to Halo CTF.

Is Artifact a good long term investment?

    Posted: 19 Sep 2019 01:03 PM PDT

If you compare it with MTG, the fisrt 2 years were rough for both games.

Right now, a complete collection of artifact costs around 30$.

I believe any new announcements from Valve will make the prices spike.
