    From 500 to 60-120 (online)

To all who say this A2 is great and like that. Nope game right now not even close to great. Not even close to good.

I remember one month ago here on this sud like 2-3 topics every day about "where my beta?" or "dodged another wave..." and then Valve open beta to everyone who sends a request, online in the game instantly grow to 500, but now it's only like 70! Very rarely it grows higher than 100... most of the time it's 60-80 and drops every day!

So now cards are free, constructed free, draft mode free and players still don't wanna play this game, they just silently leave...

Sometimes is seen on this sub topics about "I played 10-30 hours and I love 2.0", ye that's cool, sad part of this that 15% love and 85% just close game and go play other games without any review or suggestions, they just like "fuck this full RNG draft, I don't wanna play random cards" and uninstall beta.

The first time I play beta (i was in 6 wave, 10 days from the first wave), I was excited! I don't care about WIP board or bugs, I enjoy new mechanics and cool combos, new heroes with useful abilities was awesome and I really love draft mode where I can play and learn more and more new cards.

Then I learn all cards and heroes, and Valve adds some kind of "ladder", after I try to play this game seriously I see all the bad sides of this game, the Draft mode for the ladder is the worst mode you can imagine, you just play random vs random and you really become angry every time you lose to bad draw or op enemy cards when you have situational cards in your hand.

Hero Draft perfect mode to learn this game but not for the ladder, to much random. But what about constructed, I can say it's much much better than constructed in A1 but anyway boring, everyone plays broken combos and you can't do shit about that, no mulligan and slow draw add another layer of random, you just can't draw core cards sometimes when enemy play them turn 2, 90% of the games you do not draw even half of your deck, that's not how card game should work.

"Rapid deploy" also a really annoying mechanic to play verses, it's not fun when enemy spam hero every turn and gain profit from that and you can't do shit about that. And right now more than 50% of valid decks in constructed abuse Rix and Lady in constructed just because of this "Rapid deployment".

So ye, I know guys that's only Beta so we must be patient and wait for big updates but game even when it's free, game fucking bleed, players are gone. So maybe A1 problems were not about money?

p.s. I have 1377 hours in A1, 151 hours in A2. I still love Artifact and wish best for this game!

I would prefer Valve focus on PvE with the Artifact

Currently we have these placeholder asset filled single player levels and they are quite enjoyable as they are. With more balancing, artwork, voice-over and more lore thrown into it, they have good potential to be great DOTA universe campaigns.

Another approach would be making the campaign heroes persistent and leveling up as you advance. There could be different paths to develop your hero cards and you can also pick new cards for your deck.

Imagine something like Hearthstone's dungeon runs, but with player decisions and more story. We can start playing as Tresdin (LC) and move around the map completing quests.

They can even experiment with different boards. There could be a back row on each lane to put 'ranged' creeps. There could be battles with only 2 lanes etc etc...

The multiplayer could stay as a side dish and the main game could revolve around this DOTA Card/RPG Hybrid game. I would totally buy such a game. Gwent's Thronebreaker is a good indication actually.

A proposal for lanes and towers

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 12:07 AM PDT

Proposal: what if we completely remove the three lanes but use one giant 15 slots/units lane with towers unchanged. TP will teleport to any point you want to go. Most single lane skill is not 5 slots range. Although there is one lane, the damage from left 5 units still hit the left tower.

I think the benefits of this is to make more sense in this way for the combat. There is really no obvious reasons for us to keep three lane systems. Another reason is to make each unit larger, which reduce the cognitive load for comprehending which unit is doing what.

Background: I played A1 for quite some time as a casual player but gave up because of fatigue/exhaustion after each match. I played A2 for a few matches but gave up quickly because of no enjoyment at all, which may be because of art, UI, many new keywords, intense work in real life.
