    Toxic player "Duncan Mills"

    Posted: 18 Oct 2020 02:22 AM PDT

Just playing a bit of artifact beta, first game in a while, I'm just learning and I encounter toxic player Duncan Mills. Match ID 687332. Why am I being berated for being bad by another player? I mean calm down mate, its a card game... and yes you won, but why suck any kind of fun out of the game. I thought this was a beta where you learn about the game, see whats fun, see what works ect. Guess its only time before toxic players infiltrate into the game. Terrible experience.

Why do they insist with the 3 lanes system?

I know that it's in the DOTA 2 lore, but for example Underlords doesn't do it. Valve should not stick to the 3 lanes system in the card game.

Take for example MTG, they have a mod called emperor, where 6 players fight in 2 teams of 3, and it's great. But it's 6 brains. Each with its own mechanics, interests and goals, etc. Even DOTA 2 is played by 2 teams of five, you focus on one lane at a time, not 3.

In artifact it's just you and your little pool of resources among 3 lanes. I really think that it's a bad idea, because it spreads your resources, your efforts and specially it spreads your focus all around the 3 battlefields. I've just tried the new beta and there are numbers everywhere. There are also skills everywhere, and you're never sure if a skill will affect the whole board or just a lane. It's a mess. It has kept this feeling of a grinder in which you drop creatures and watch them die in a sea of numbers. It's not thrilling. I feel like I'm playing a big excel spreadsheet.

Think about it: If the 3 lanes system were not already in DOTA 2 would you add them in artifact? Or would you simply focus on a 1 lane system maybe with some variation but with a focus on 1 lane?
