Artifact 2.0 finally taught me how horrible CCGs are

I can not describe what an amazing feeling it is to not have to worry about grinding to unlock every card. I truly hope on final release they consider a model based on subscriptions or cosmetic unlocks.

The fact is so many games on the market right now are based on this horrible free to play model that encourages grinding hundreds of hours or spending hundreds of dollars. It's hard not to feel like you are just a pigeon in a Skinner box.

I'm also glad to see that artifact dropped the notion of never adjusting cards. It's something CCGs do all too often. And typically as a way to make you buy the next card that has power creep. I hope that in final release they continue to constantly make changes as a way to shake up the meta and properly balance the game.

I'd be much happier if they just went ahead and got rid of the notion of opening packs. There is no reason to do so in an online CCG outside of pure greed.

I'm really hoping they can find a way to monetize the game and break this horrible feature that has crept its way into the genre.

I may be the minority but having played online CCGs for years I can't tell you how nice of a feeling this is. I'm not against expansions or new cards either. But going through hundreds of packs to do so is not my thing.

It is time to allow us inviting friends

    Hi devs and artifact players,

I just showed Artifact 2.0 to a friend who is really into board games (and super clever) and he was eager to try it. Isn't it time to give us at least 1 invite for non artifact 1.0 players ?

(We are under lockdown again in France, the timing would be perfect)

    Thank you very much

How would you redesign Echo Slam?

Damage equal to the number of units (old design) was too weak, double damage (current design) seems too strong.

    What if it were...

Damage all enemies = number of opponents' units + 2?

Damage all enemies = number of opponents' units & stun units for 1 round?

Damage = double opponents' units to 1 target unit, and number of opponents' units to all others?

    Completely different effect?

How much of what we currently have, cards and levels, are we keeping after Beta is over?
