Posted: 21 Dec 2020 08:40 AM PST Given Valve's track record as a company, it really feels like they are attempting to get into the wrong market here with Artifact. I mean just look at Underlords for example, Underlords Season 1 launched in February 2020 and they still haven't given any update on Season 2 (which is unlikely to happen at this point as they let the game fall off, but it still should have been scheduled a few months ahead of Season 1 launch). Dota 2 had 7.27 in June and 7.28 in December, totaling 6 months in between major patches. It just feels like when looking at the expectation of the card game market, generally an expansion is released every 3-4 months is Valve really a company that can manage to adhere to a schedule like that? The last time this game started to wane in popularity they decided to drop off a cliff and stop communicating with the playerbase for months. Even if Artifact 2.0 has an incredible surge in popularity, I have firm doubts that a company like Valve would be able to support a 'live-services' game, just looking at Underlords for the best example of this. Not trying to be overly negative as I do want the game to succeed! What are your guys thoughts? [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 21 Dec 2020 08:28 PM PST So Valve announced that "after trying a lot of different things"(?) they are ready to start polishing the game. It is strongly implied the core mechanics will not change anymore from what they are now. For me personally, and I genuinely mean to say this with utmost respect to anyone who disagrees, this would probably mean I won't play the game. To me Artifact 2.0 lost way too much of the charm Artifact had. What I wonder about is how many people are happy with the current state of 2.0 and think Valve is doing a good job transitioning to locking the current design in permanently? Also love the new board look. Just very disappointed practically nothing fundamentally changed over the beta. [link] [comments] |
