Imagine if Valve said back in 2008 they were in it for the long haul regarding L4D1? But they didn't and they still got massive backlash when L4D2 was announced. What they did with Artifact was much worse by saying 'long haul' in December 2018, dropped support in January 2019 and then introduced a new client (which they internally call Artifact 2) over a year later without telling the community that the original client won't be getting reworked. I don't see the similarities of No Man's Sky like where Hello Games updated the same client. What long haul are we talking about here? The original game is completely abandoned.

This sequel is also doomed to failure. This is actually a huge 'closed' beta where pretty much all Artifact players (1mil +) were invited to play this game, yet the final wave only consisted of 600 concurrent players and now it's struggling at around 30 as of this week. It's unprecedented for so many players to leave in a closed beta especially for a card game. Normally it's growth over time.

Is Valve going to make huge fundamental gameplay changes to fix the decline or are they're going to carry on making useless balance changes on a game that barely anyone plays? And why have they lied AGAIN by saying there would be frequent tweets and blog posts on their early access page? They haven't done it in weeks now. It's also reverted back to meme status if you take a look at the twitch page. What exactly is the point of this closed beta?
