    Artifact League

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 01:47 PM PDT

Looking to start an amateur artifact league. They might be done patching the game but there's few and far between updates that are even needed IMO. It would be awesome if Artifact gained traction to the point of Valve putting resources towards it again but FOR NOW I just want to play some competitive and organized Artifact. I'm an idiot so still working out the discord and how the league would even operate but that will come with time. The idea would be to get enough to start tournaments with prize pools before long.

TLDR: Starting a league for artifact. Working out the kinks currently. But discord is 90% made.

Was overhauling the game the wrong decision?

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 02:33 AM PDT

So first off, I have never actually played Artifact. I just found the saga of the game fascinating, and I've been enjoying seeing all the post-death analysis from people here.

With that in mind, I wanted to pose a questionto the community of Artifact archeologists: was it a mistake to try to overhaul the game so drastically once the initial launch floundered?

I'm not talking about the specific changes they made for Foundry in the time since, which I've been seeing plenty of discussion about. I mean that initial decision to halt the updates and go back to the drawing board. I remember that when that happened, the consensus from the wider gaming community seemed to be that the game as launched was beyond salvaging and that taking this drastic step was the right move.

But knowing how it all shook out, was that wrong? Do you think Valve could have turned it around if they had stuck with the original content plans and made smaller changes to monetization and mechanics, rather than immediately pressing the nuclear button?

At the time, the decision to drop everything and start over seemed like the company making hard choices to do the right thing, but in hindsight it feels more like a developer not used to failure giving up at the first sign of trouble. I guess I'll always wonder if things could have been different, had they stuck to their guns.

    Artifact Lore not valid anymore?

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 01:08 AM PDT

With artifact being over basically, is the artifact lore considered canon? there has been a lot of influence of this game with implications to the lore and with this game being discontinued does it all count?
This makes a huge difference in terms of future lore in the anime and the game in general.

I really wanted this game to do well coz I love the dota universe and its lore and it is kind of sad this is happening

Classic or Foundry? What are you playing?

I'm currently enjoying 2.0's hero draft, but I'm curious who is playing what at the moment.
