    Tournament | Saturday 8th UTC 15 | Constructed | 20$

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 02:47 AM PDT

    Hey fellow masochistic Artifact players.

Another attempt at defining a constructed meta. The previous tournament was taken by Fermens with an aggro mono red warhorn deck. With patches hitting every week it will be interesting observe the meta reshape constantly.

    Rules:

    • Constructed, Best of 1, Single Elimination. Semifinals & Finals Best of 3.
    • Claszureme Hourglass BANNED; unless patched this coming Friday.
    • No decklist submissions. You can change decks throughout the tournament.
    • Remember to hide decks in the challenge lobby.
    • Change your Steam Nickname to match your Discord Nickname.
    • LIMITED SEATS (64).
    • 20$ for the winner (Paypal).

A reminder that if you are in the 2.0 beta, you DO NOT need to have a complete collection to play constructed; the challenge lobbies allow you to build a deck with all cards regardless of whether you have them in your collection or not.

Join my discord (https://discord.gg/cd3jAg8) to register. First come first serve. PM ME (Nine)

You must afterwards add me on Steam (Nine in game; Steam 86752222)

    15 UTC = 8 AM PDT = 17 CEST = 18 MSK = 05 AEST (do confirm your local time - sry Australia)

Tournament is run from my discord. You challenge each other in game and report scores to me.

Initial impression after 2 campaign games

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 02:12 PM PDT

= A lighter experience than 1.0, but not too light.

= Less of an intensive strategy game and more of a chill game, more towards the CCG genre. Less taxing on the brain, but also less epic.

+ Less RNG/gambling feels better, even though I didn't really mind arrows and random deployment in 1.0.

+ Shop gives more options and less RNG. Way better than 1.0. Also cleaner and faster.

    - Overall impression that some game mechanics still don't give enough of a dopamine boost.

    - Mechanics/keywords not explained in game. Additional tooltips to explain keywords are needed.

+ Mana seems much better dosed than 1.0. Every action seems valuable and mana management feels impactful. At least from the first 2 games they seem to have nailed this aspect. This was one of my biggest fears.

    - Still needs to be a bit clearer about what is going on, you suddenly hear sound effects but don't know what has been triggered. A much better log of previous events and actions is needed.

Overall the game is better than I anticipated from blog posts and other's opinions, and seems to be heading in the right direction. More attention to detail/user experience, and the excitement of core mechanics is required. An improvement nonetheless of 1.0, and this is from someone who loved 1.0.

I would like to politely ask the developers to let everyone else in the beta. (who paid for 1.0)

2.0 is in a good place, much better than 1.0. It has been so long, these people have already been 'impressed' in 1.0 they just have to learn the new cards. If the game is good they will come back even if they do not like it now, especially when you release new modes. Just let them in. Please I hate to see the community split up like this, it has to be impacting the games perception in a negative way, more than the value of doing these waves.

You can always get more initial impressions from the general public.

And yes I am already in the beta, so I am not begging to get in.
