Ready the questions! Feel free to ask anything (no matter how seemingly moronic).

When the first hit strikes wtih desolator, the hit stirkes as if the - armor debuff had already been placed?

There's no desolator in this game yet.

[Opinion] In light of Artifact getting more attention from Twitch in 2 days than Valve did ever, this is what I would do to attempt to revive game.

After watching 10 minutes of Gachigasm with a friend of mine we decided to start talking about what it would take to get this game going again, these are some of the ideas we came up with. I'll probably add more later under an Edit. (tldr's in the bold)

20 dollars for a game that no one plays. (turn Artifact into an LCG)

Alright here's the first issue, 20 dollars for a bunch of booster packs has to go. At this point 20 dollars could probably purchase a play set of every card on the steam marketplace, so why not just do that. Turn artifact into an LCG, if you already invested money to play the game you get a play set of every card in the Base Set.

The Base set will be something you can use regardless of what the current state of the game is, this allows for a mostly even playing ground and gives people initiative to actually purchase the game rather than going completely f2p. They could still go f2p if they really wanted to and allow players to unlock cards or give them the option to purchase a Base set at any point in time so that they aren't pressured into spending 20 dollars on a game they might not like. This also could be used to let people play with pre-made decks so they are able to experience more aspects of the game without investment.

20 dollars as a single transaction? Where is the money to be made? Where does the game go from here?(Expansions)

At this point everyone in the game owns all the cards, as an LCG the only next step is to put expansions into the game with the same standard. Purchase an expansion to the Base set for players to play in a new expansion. This also gives Valve a way to make back their losses by getting devs to invest in Artifact by putting their own characters into Artifact as part of an expansion. Initially they could do something like an "Orange Box" expansion with characters from half life 3, Portal, and TF2 then ramp it up into different popular games on steam. You could even offer people discounts on the expansion if they already own games the characters are from.

The biggest issue that could stem from this would be too many expansions, but a fix to that would be to allow the Base set and 1 to 3 expansions at a time to exist in "standard", while maintaining an "unlimited format" that allows people to play with all expansions, and to a point if people really want it they could have queues with "Rotating formats" that change monthly so people can always experience their favorite game state eventually. (You could even get people to purchase a previous expansion at a discounted rate to experience these rotating game modes)

But what about hats? (holo cards)

Give players boxes/packs randomly at the end of some games that allows players to pull holo cards. This could also be used to keep the marketplace lucrative for Valve. This gives players an incentive to still collect cards despite having a playset. Alternative arts could also be a fun incentive to collect especially for theme decks.

    Final thoughts

The idea is that turning Artifact into an LCG would give people a reason to spend the 20 dollars Valve was trying to get people to spend initially. At this point outside of going full f2p, I don't feel like this game is going to get people playing (followed by the initial cleaning out the market for cheap cards). I think that this game is a lot of fun, if not super complicated and difficult for people who might not be super interested in investing time into a game that's for the most part already dead. If Valve really wants to make anything out of this, they really have to at least try to advertise a little.
