1: Donate to our patreon at https://www.patreon.com/letsstillplayartifact 100% of donations go to prize pool.

2: Sign up to become a tournament admin. You can host the tournaments according to your schedule, so even if you can only host a small amount feel free to sign up in the discord channel.

    1. Give us feedback! We are hoping to improve this tournament over time according to how our players would find it more fun.

Mythgard: Or how to enjoy the Long Haul

    Posted: 29 May 2019 04:07 PM PDT

    Hello there, Longhaulers

I come here as a lover of CCGs with deep, intricate mechanics.

I like Artifact a lot, but I´m not one to intensely focus on games that won´t receive updates. Rotation, patch notes, changes, movement, dynamism... is to me an integral part of the strategic card game experience.

Mythgard is an upcoming game, currently in alpha state, that seems to hit many of my sweet spots. It inherits great features from many other CCGs.

    GAMEPLAY:

Paths are like Strongholds from Legend of the 5 Rings, but color independent. They are chosen on deck building and give you a special, always on mechanic.

Powers are like Hero Powers from Hearthstone, 2-mana, once-per-turn abilities. But they are also color independent and a part of deckbuilding.

Creatures are played in specific positions, like Spectromancer, Artifact or Duel of Champions, and the board plays an integral part of the gameplay.

The mana system is pretty unique and its tied to the Mulligan system. Basically you can BURN one card per turn, which shuffles it into the deck, increases your current and maximum mana pool by one, and adds a GEM (refreshed every turn) of a specific color. Cards have a mana cost and a gem cost. So by burning a red card you already have access to any card that requires one red gem. This makes multicolored decks a much more confortable proposition, provides constant mulligan opportunities, removes the "topdecking an island" absurdity, and makes mana-screw or mana-flood borderline impossible (unless you push it really far playing 4-5 colors. Which I do =D )

There´s 1v1 constructed, and draft. A single-player story, PVE draft, and....

2v2. Yes. There´s a 2v2 mode right from alpha and it´s awesome. I won´t go into details but it works as you would want it to work.

    ---

    ECONOMY:

Everything you want. Missions, achievements and daily rewards grant you currency to buy packs. You can also disenchant extra cards and craft singles with Essence (like Hearthstone/Magic).

Rarity is very interesting. Your deck can have 4 copies of a common, 3 copies of an uncommon, 2 copies of a rare, 1 copy of a mythic. Every booster has a guaranteed rare which sometimes (let´s say 1/10) is a Mythic. If you already have a Mythic you won´t get a duplicate.

    ----

LORE: The lore is something I have a fetish for, which is the combination of ancient magic and modern-day (or futuristic) technology. A blend between fantasy and science fiction. Plus, every color seems to represent a certain mythology. Red is greek mythos, Yellow centroamerican, Blue nordic, Orange middle-eastern/abrahamic, Green slavic.

Flavor text can be fun, witty, dark, or everything at the same time. The single-player story reveals the basics but the rest seems to be extracted from the cards themselves. Here´s a detailed explanation if you´re intrigued:

    DEVS

Now this is something important. I like Valve in genera but the betastrophe is well known. The Mythgard Devs ( https://www.rhinogamesinc.com/ ) are vocal on discord, listen to the fan feedback, host contests for boosters and are generally awesome.

We´ve all complained about how many issues in Artifact could´ve been avoided with an open beta where feedback was listened to. This is happening here right now. There was recently a thing where creature-kill was a little on the powerful side and they made several nerfs a buffs that shifted the gameplay dynamic towards a much healthier state. The sixth faction is about to be revealed, and I think after that there will be 1-3 more months of Alpha. After that, Beta. Not "closed and for professional players and streamers" beta, but a healthy open beta for everyone.

There will be an account wipe from alpha to beta but if you want to get a little bit of gameplay advantage this would be a good time to join.

    ----

    OK WHAT DO I DO

    Go here: https://www.mythgardgame.com/

The game is available for Steam, iOS and Android. Oh yeah you can play on your phone, probably should´ve mentioned that before but there´s so many features in this shit that I forgot.

You can play through the web but I recommend going into the Discord and asking for a Steam key. They´ll give it to you immediately.

Oh, and there are open tournaments every saturday which are free to enter and give out boosters. lul

    Cheers!

EDIT: I got so carried away that I forgot about the lore!

    Let's just switch categories

    Posted: 29 May 2019 10:04 AM PDT

Why don't we all streaming, switch categories to a different category since staff is banning everyone right now.

[Theory] Valve is behind those Movie Streams

    Posted: 29 May 2019 12:02 AM PDT

This one Artifact Dev dude said hes working on secret things for Artifact but maybe they just developed bots because Valve knows there will be some people that are like "let's abuse the moment, buy Artifact and actually stream it for easy views". So it was all a campaign from Valve to sell 10 more Artifact copies.
