To be honest, I was thinking that it's average: there is no Green lategame cards aside from Thunderhide Alpha, but the Green/Blue deck fits my playstyle well, you can fight for all of the lanes. Didn't expect myself to proceed to the finals, there were even stronger decks during the road and a one with 2 Lycans and 4 Thunderhide Packs :D Do you draft decks like this often or usually it is worse? I played in ABL league a lot, improved my draft skill there, plus I often won small hourly tournaments. I think my draft skill is fine, but in these kind of bo1 elimination tournaments even with a good deck you can get uncomfortable list against you, so I think that draft is only 50% of winning, the rest are your skill and luck. You played against 6 different decks. Which one you think was the strongest? The toughest game was semi-finals against Black/Red list. It has a lot of siege damage, which I can't hold. At the end I won with 1 HP remaining on last tower, got lucky killing one of heroes under Time of Triumph with Eclipse, otherwise it would be a tie. But there is another strong deck as well. Here I got lucky overtaking him in temp with Arm the Rebellion, also my opponent made a mistake deploying Blue hero on the wrong lane. Otherwise, I think, he should've beaten me. What can you say about tournament format? A few players were dissatisfied getting eliminated right after losing their first bo1 match. Do you agree with them? Yes, if you skip swiss rounds and drop everyone in playoffs, you should either add redrafts in few rounds or make matches best-of-3. Of course the better solution is adding few swiss rounds and then the best ones proceed to playoffs stage.I'd advise hosts watch at ABL main events format, there is a balanced system with swiss being played on 1st day and playoffs on second one. But it also depends on your goals. If it's a fun tournament for everyone to play at evening, then sure current format makes sense. Unfortunately, there are no tournaments with prize pools in Artifact at the moment, so it would be nice if the remaining ones were more competitive. When did you start playing Artifact? I play since its release, didn't participate in beta, but was watching it on streams. Learned about the tournament with the announcement on The International. Why didn't you leave Artifact yet? I really like the game. The other card games that I tried weren't giving as much possibilities of plays, tension while thinking of what to play, which results in even more satisfaction with victory, because of how much were you tensed about the match :D Thanks to how much deep the game is, there is a room for improvement even after 600 hours played. I sincerely believe that Artifact is a decent game, and it is unfortunate that many players didn't like it. I'm afraid that Artifact 2.0, if it comes out, will most likely be simplified in many aspects. Do you play poker? I started playing it approximately in 2008, but actively played it in 2011–2013, when I was a student and poker could provide me with good money. I played in multi-table tournaments, and sometimes cash and heads-ups when I could. Then I stopped playing it, because I was busy. Poker is a deep game as well and it has obvious financial incentive to dig calculating probabilities of each card and the right ways to play them. Unlike artifact, that if Valve actually did a tournament for a million dollars, that would be a very different story, a lot of smart people would try to solve Artifact from the point of view of game theory and I'd love to see to what strategies it would all lead. Does your poker skill help you in Artifact? It's hard to remember what I knew before I started playing poker, but in general I think tilt resistance is really important in Artifact. Matches are long, sometimes you make a mistake or your opponent gets lucky and at this point, the most important thing it to not give up or tilt, because there is always at least 1% chance that you will win and you have to find it. Knowing percentages is also a very important thing, you have to understand that there is a chance that creeps will go to the lane and also a chance that they will block an important unit. All these small probabilities constantly pursue you and the strongest players try to take it into account. Well, small bluffs are the case as well :) Well, it was the last question. Would you like to add something? I'd like to thank you for the interview, as well as all the tournaments organizers, all the websites and communities that still support the game and don't lose hope. However, right now is the cheapest way to try out the game for all those who didn't, collection's cost for now is less than 40$ plus 20$ for the game itself. It's like pre-ordering an expansion in Hearthstone. Playing Artifact is much more exciting than watching. If you like warm-ups for the brain, then Artifact is what you need.
