Posted: 05 May 2019 11:27 AM PDT Hmmmm, so this is not another cheerful "come play draft tournaments" post like the one from a few days back. ABL was running for about 4 months now, a league with hourly draft tournaments 24/5 throughout the month("season"), ending with a big(or at least, Artifact-big) main event in the end of each season. A lot of work was put into it by so many people in Artifact the community, for example: - Dozens of volunteer admins creating and running the hourly lobbies(1200+ hosted tournaments so far, 22K+ games played and 900+ unique players over the past 4 months). - Developers creating a system for admins to automate results input(Discord bot) and a website(https://mmrtifact.com) to show these results and calculate skill rating. - A ton of enthusiasm from players, who were both playing the league, contributing ideas on how to improve formats, researching rating systems, and more. Earlier today we were abruptly notified by Opsy(who started the league months ago and was funding the tournaments' prize pool) that he is giving up on Artifact, and that effective immediately, ABL is shutting down. This came as quite the surprise for the admins and players that just started playing season 5 this week, and now the question arises.. can we do anything about it? (spoiler: the answer is y..eah... sorta... but... not really?) Short term:
*ask me for Discord role/permissions if you want to host tournaments. Long If some benevolent soul wants to sponsor the league - we could bring back prizes. Contact me in private if you are Regardless of what happens with ABL in the future, I really want to thank everyone who took part in this madness, I've had a lot of fun and hope you did too. Parting Beta Bugs and Feedback, Before I Archive Artifact Posted: 05 May 2019 10:39 AM PDT Never got around to posting this, but since I'm about to archive my Artifact Trello card, I would feel bad if I didn't contribute it. Fixing small things isn't glamorous but it makes for a polished, professional product. These things and more would need fixing for a re-release. 1- While drafting, when you double click a card, mouseclicking outside of its info doesn't do anything but should ESC back to the draft picking. 2- ESC doesn't do anything in Account Levels screen. 3- Make clicking your account icon on the Account Levels screen open up the Change Icon screen. 4- ESC in Change Icon screen does nothing. 5- In Shop if you click View Board, the Enter key is co-opted by that and it no longer passes, but instead clicks View Board. Basically Enter is hardcoded to View Board even if you change the keybind. They didnt imagine anyone rebinding Pass to Enter. 6- Double-clicking a hero in the cardlist while building a draft deck doesn't move it over like double clicking any other card line. Should do the same as double clicking the hero in the hero bar. 7- When you come back from a disconnection at the start of the game you can't zoom out or change lanes to see anything - this is the same coding logic problem that blocks spectators from zooming out at the start of the game before someone takes the first action. 8- Enable live draft spectating so that big tournaments can show them, instead of having to ignore drafting or pause for 20 minutes before they can be spectated. 9- Tournament games are laggy at the start, server that hosts them is dying? 10- Make a sound when your tourney status changes (i.e. the blue button appears for you to draft, or play, etc.) 11- Shop tooltip appears even during normal play (when zoomed out to 3 lanes). I.e. you can hover over invisible things on the screen. 12- Scrollwheel doesn't work on the right decklist in both blitz tournaments and regular user-made tourneys. Works properly in gauntlet games. 13- Only in tourneys F2 doesn't show your decklist when the shop is up. 14- Creep spawns hide improvements during deployment (so you can't see things like March of the Machines charges). 15- Add yours. See you never, maybe. Hopefully will. [link] [comments]

Played again after a long time Posted: 05 May 2019 12:03 PM PDT I bought a few cards for a deck I wanted to try, except it took a long while since the steam market is frustrating. It's really easy to be hyperconscious of how much cards cost when I have to wait for the market to give me feedback, and that feedback takes forever. Accidently buying extra multiples of stuff I didn't need is unfortunate, and resulted from the yellow warning popping up that would normally mean the transaction failed. Only it'd gotten through, and I'd just been too impatient to check. I still enjoyed the game as much as I did early on. The queues were surprisingly short, and maybe I'd gotten lucky both times since I didn't play that many games. Although both of the games I won were won because I got a good turn off and shut my opponent out of being able to respond. I don't imagine that feels good, though if the remaining players are all veterans I guess they are just supposed to know to play around certain cards? I'll probably save myself a lot of pain if I just stop coming back, since if anything big happens there probably would be a semi-global steam announcement. [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 May 2019 01:26 PM PDT I know it shouldn't, but I'm still surprised when I play against jackasses in a game with such a small community. I had a black and blue deck in draft against a guy playing red and green. He was rank 65, got off to a fast start, and sent a "Good Game" message at the start of the 2nd round when it was clear he was going to kill more heroes that round. Later in the game, he sent a message saying "Friendly advice: you should play your Coup de Grace before you play your Potion of Knowledge." This was before I had played the Coup. He was correct in guessing that I had a Coup de Grace in my hand, but I strategically chose not to play it that round. I correctly guess where he would place a strong hero the round after, used my Coup on it, and went on to win the game. At least the victories are a little sweater against these shitheads.
