(Survey) Esports sponsorships: Creating relevant-added value Posted: 08 May 2019 03:38 PM PDT Hello everyone, I am doing a survey about esports sponsors and their duty to bring value to (and improve) esports. The data from the survey will be used for my PhD at the University of Vic - UCC and to develop an article that will be published in a scientific journal. As such, I would like to ask for your participation in filling out this anonymous 8 minute questionnaire. You will be helping me a lot by answering these questions. Here is the link to the online survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfC4nhTD5PN5VQE9c_Uilnr-hpKdzLNZtsWPWFW-Yt9IhduxQ/viewform?usp=sf_link Thank you so much in advance. I actually expected something for Artifact players Posted: 08 May 2019 06:23 AM PDT I'm one of those guys who preordered the game and bought the full collection. I dont regret that much because I really enjoy the gameplay. Sadly the playerbase thought the opposite and its fine so here we are. Playerbase has shrinked hugely, the remaining people are either leaving too or losing their hope about the foreseeable future of this game since Valve's last blog. I know that every Artifact player don't have to play Dota or should have a Dota history but even Valve made cross-promotions between Dota and Artifact. There were some advertisements in Dota.(Even in bases of Dire and Radiant, Imps from Artifacts were sitting on a table with cards) Lots of fans of Artifact are upset about the current state and you guys wants us to support you further with funding The International 2019 with battlepass/levels. Yes, I got the 100 Level Battlepass just because I wanted to support. Valve heard my voice about the problem of mine caused by my health issue and they helped back then. So I always believe their projects and I support them because of that. But I believe your fans deserve more than a blog post dear Valve. Yes, everbody doesnt need to play Dota or enjoy Battlepass, but at least don't forget your fans who have supported Artifact and plays Dota still. Cheers! (Sorry about the grammar mistakes though) [link] [comments] | ||

Wouldn't a counterpsell have removed the need for initiative wars? Posted: 08 May 2019 03:02 AM PDT A lot of good discussion on here about one of the major pitfalls of the game being the lack of player agency, inability to play cards, and the need to skip playing cards in multiple lanes just to save initiative for another lane. I was thinking about the problem a lot last night, and knew that any RNG solution would be horrid. Then I thought about the MTG or D&D system of a counterspell. It's been suggested before here, so why not? When an opponent casts a spell you have the option of playing a Counterspell card to interrupt it. Simple as that. No longer would you need to be so afraid of specific player-agency removing situations. This card would only apply to spells. Playing creeps, improvements, gold cards, activating abilities, activating items: everything else besides a spell would not be counterable: only spells. So now you'd have a chance to respond to a Gank, Annihilation, Berserkers call, Gust etc directly. But not a well positioned Tidehunter stun. Initiative would remain the same as it would be currently, but completely gone would be initiative wars if you have a counterspell card. Not to mention even if you don't have one in hand, opponents will be forced to consider the possibility that you do. Both of these things will combine together to remove the initiative war. Yes I get it's a problem too of "yet another action you have to click pass on when you don't have a counterspell card". Simple solution would be to have two tickboxes in the bottom right next to the Pass button. Tickbox 1) Pass Counterspells (means you autopass on all counterspell options if you don't care about bluffing if you have one) and Tickbox 2) Autopass (autopass all movements, with 1 second delay so you have a chance to turn the option off quickly if your opponent plays a move you need to respond to). The specifics of Counterspell don't really matter. Obviously it would be great if it were a neutral card, but since the game doesn't have neutrals perhaps every color could get a copy of it. Or perhaps Artifact 2.0 might introduce neutral cards? Regardless, I can't help but see a counterspell as being the solution to initiative wars without introducing any element of RNG.
