After HL trailer, do we have unrealistic expectations? Posted: 21 Nov 2019 05:37 PM PST Seeing that HL trailer and Valve learning their lesson about releasing half finished games... I don't feel so great about an artifact 2.0 release date coming anytime soon. It feels 12-18 months away to me. Anyone else? [link] [comments]
Valve will appear at The Game Rewards Posted: 21 Nov 2019 10:29 AM PST Confirmed at the end of this video. Lets all pray that they will not only show Alys but also something about Artifact. [link] [comments]
[no new insights:] Second impressions of playing the game after a ~9 month return Posted: 21 Nov 2019 07:35 AM PST When the game first released with all the hype and criticism, I totally jumped into the game and really liked it. However, after a while the game got stale with no ranked mode so I quit playing even though I really liked the gameplay. I wasn't a pro player or anything, but I'd say I understood the game rather well and even won a small scale tournament with a single digit prize money. The game turning one year old and everything made me think, it may be fun to retry the game (having forgotten pretty much everything I knew back then). Here is my impression: I couldn't help but compare it to hearthstone (which I played for a month or two, reaching rank 7, before it bore me to death): When you first start out playing HS you get matched against other newb players. Even though you don't know the game at all at first it is rather obvious what the ideal moves are, since you and the enemy can't really play much the first few rounds and the enemies cards are pretty irrelevant to your path to victory. The effect of the cards you play are very obvious, so the only real thing you learn is what cards there are (which you need to memorize in order to dominate at a high skill). So while you see a lot of novel monsters and effects at first, the gameplay is straight forward and rewarding, since you win a lot of games at rank 20 or worse even with terrible decks. When I played the round of artifact just now, it became immediately clear to me how incredibely unapproachable the game is: Three lanes, upcoming hero deployments, hero colors, enemy color cards, armor, cleave, blademail, retaliate... there are sooo many things you have to consider right from the first turn, which are all relevant to your road to victory. While many of the mechanics or similiar ones exist in HS too, there is usually only 1 special mechanic associated with your hs-hero (and there are only max 2 in each game) and they get introduced gradually with increasing mana. I know all these mechanics and knew them already when I started playing HS back when it released, because of all the hype before the release. But there is basically no "learn as you go" in Artifact. And I didn't even start thinking about the fact that the most fun mode (phantom draft) is even less beginner friendly, while the more casual mode still needs you to spent cash. Even if you master those mechanics, there are many things that make it very intransparent even at a pro level as to why you lost/won a game, which are things like lanes (win 2 lanes or 1 lane twice), hero deployments randomness, etc., pp. So if you understand the mechanics, you are still left with the feeling that you don't understand the game. Now I am not saying Artifact is a bad game. As I understood both HS and Artifact, I have to say HS gameplay at a high skill level is boring as hell, since you can usually predict the outcome of a match simply by knowing the match up, while in Artifact every round feels fresh even with the same decks competing. However everything that makes Artifact great at a high skill level, makes it unsatisfying for every other skill level. Everything that makes Artifact great, is the same reason no one is playing it. The game has a tutorial, but what really may help get people into the game may be an expanded PvE campaign, similiar to the hs ones. They always seemed to be more fun than the PvP modes in hs. tl;dr: returning to artifact after ~9 months, i realized for the first time how incredibly unapproachable and unsatisfying the game can be for newcomers [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 Nov 2019 08:52 AM PST Heroes have level and need exp for each level like level 1 requires 5 exp, level 2 requires 10 exp, level 3 requires 15 exp. When ally hero kill an enemy hero with figthing phase like direct hitting them or like duel spell get 5 exp. If enemy hero killed by spell or other unit, your heroes on that lane get 1 exp (if enemy hero has neighbor allies heros , allies heros get 2 exp).If your hero kill enemy unit (not heroes) get 1 exp only direct hitting them (fighting phase).Every level your heroes ability get upgrade but i dont know how to do with rix like heroes. Number can change because maybe 5 exp or 10 exp requires will low but there is basic idea. [link] [comments] |
