    Artifact in Low-end PCs

A little/lot late to the party, but someone might still find this useful.

Note1: Not an expert, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Note2: By Low-end PC I mean the average notebook sold at supermarkets in 2010.

Goal: You can read the cards and appreciate the art. Main Menu lags*, but game is playable.

    Artifact Settings**

Reason: Vsync reduces gpu load by limiting your fps.

*Main Menu probably either ignores your render settings or starts at 4K (and game at 1080p)

    -Steam->Artifact->Properties->Set Launch Options:

    Change to your monitor resolution

Reason1: Artifact settings have no exclusive fullscreen option, this will ensure it.

Reason2: You watch movies at 24fps. This is a cardgame.

-Now go to your graphics control panel:

    Disable Triple Buffering

Reason1: Your 2010 Graphic Card may not have enough memory.

    Reason2: Your 2010 CPU/GPU can't get a moment's rest to actually buffer anything.

-Disable Steam Overlay and anything Steam might use. Close to Tray after launching Artifact.

If you're still not satisfied, you can - until Valve say otherwise - modify your Artifact game files and make it lighter

**Finally, you can now tweak settings until your GPU is maxed, be aware of your PC temperature. The order to increase is probably Render Quality/Anti-Aliasing/Texture/Fps/Lighting/Shadow/AO.

If everything bad about artifact is fixed, i.e. bad RNG is gone, game is full f2p giving all cards and shop is reworked, etc., do you think people will still be willing to switch to artifact from the games they've spent hundreds of dollars on?

And if the game gives you everything at once, how is progression going to work.. cos nobody has ever done what Valve is rumoured to be doing now.. especially in this genre..

How will the first ever fully free CG play out? What kind of new formats can we hope to see when everyone has the full game right off the bat? How will the core game be redesigned when currently, your credit card determines constructed deck quality..

As good as a full free CG sounds, many ppl will tell you that a large part of the fun is in collecting cards to add to the deck.. will such ppl be turned off by this model??

Will the game be fun enough to hook players from other CGs AND KEEP THEM HERE? Artifact will need a simple yet fun core set of mechanics to make this happen.. as it stands, the game is anything but simple.

Success or failure, Artifact 2.0 is going to be an interesting case study.. so many questions to answer and a disastrous legacy to overcome!
