    I played again Artifact.

And I did enjoy it. But there's only one problem: No players.

And yes, this is not news.

The thing I do not understand

    IS

    WHY

    THIS

    GAME

    IS

    NOT

    FREE.

Valve is very famous and rich.

Therefor, they can make this game free

Free game = More people coming in.

Make a patch, even a change in your HUD, or something.

Then make it free. ITS A CARD GAME, AND ITS A DOTA GAME (Dota 2 itself is free, Dota Underlords is free, TF2 is free, CS:GO is free (and im aware it wasn't)

    What do you think, reddit?

How important do you guys think the "unlimited" aspects of Artifact are?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 06:37 AM PST

One of the distinguishing features of Artifact is the "unlimited" number of units you could have on the board, "unlimited" hand size, and "unlimited" deck size. While it sounds like a good idea to not impose the same limits you need in a physical card game, it can cause problems because "unlimited" cards and units are still being managed by a human. A good example is when you have dozens of units on the board and play Disciple of Nevermore. Unless your opponent only has a handful of units, it can be a pain to do the math and try to figure out how much extra tower damage you'll do. If more complex cards were added in the future that truly take advantage of the "unlimited" aspects, it could get even worse. Imagine if a card like Agonizing Demise was added. You could end up with both players having hundreds of cards on the board, and now you need to quickly filter them by type, color, and strength in order to find the best target.

The only solutions to the above situation are quickly picking a unit and hoping the target was good enough, or having in-game filters that automatically search for cards that meet certain criteria. So what's your guys opinion on it?

    • Are filters a good idea?
    • Should quickly searching through cards be part of the skillcap?
    • Do the "unlimited" aspects of the game cause too many problems, so a hard cap should be placed on the number of units in each lane?

I personally like the idea of adding filters because it allows the game to keep the epic feeling of huge battles, but I could also see it pushing the game even further into the "big brain" niche where it isn't actually fun to play for almost anyone.
