What are your opinions on the “new” Blink Scroll?

I have around 100 games right now, and one of my favorite mechanics was the Blink Scroll. Yeah, the way you got one was kinda weird, but with them the end game was almost always exciting (since even when you got only one - while your opponent had 2/3 - there was always this feeling that "if I blink to the right lane at the right moment I can still win").

As you probably know, "recently" the devs changed the Blink Scroll to be given only when you destroy a tower. And while I think this change was made because sometimes they could feel like an "win more" mechanic, in my experience this new iteration actually makes this feeling much stronger. Right now, getting a Blink Scroll feels like a huge advantage. Specially if the player who got the scroll has a hero with big stats, a lot of times they can blink it to another lane and – if the other player doesn't have any cross lane abilities to use- it's game over. The end result is that this can feel like the losing player couldn't even try to respond.

But, even though I personally didn't like this change, I'm still not sure it was a bad one. Maybe the dev's were trying to buff cross lane effects, or maybe my experience simply is too different from how other players are feeling. And that's exactly why I created this thread: to check others opinions on this situation.

TL;DR: For me, the new way of getting Blink Scrolls feels much more like an "win more" mechanic than its previous iteration, but I don't know if it's an isolated opinion or if others feel the same way. So I would love to know other players opinions on this mechanic.

Going back to the mana system.

So, I know it's really common to say that something doesn't feel right with the mana system right now. I even complained about this 5 months ago and on my e-mail to them when Artifact 2.0 started to open the alpha/beta, even though I didn't play. Seeing the cards and a lot of videos I think the problem is clear to me now: In this Artifact blog on April 20 they they said:

"Mana costs have been reduced for low-end and mid-tier cards, but high-end cards remain expensive. If you want to blow up a lane it might be the only thing you do in a round. Balance in the original game with these high impact spells was tricky – you had some decks that went from casting zero big spells to a big spell in every lane."

The problem is: Powerful spells still come too soon, on round 6 you're already castingg Anhilation, Eclipse and Thundergod Wrath. It's just that now spells instead of almost useless, has some use on early rounds, but you don't have the feeling that most card games have from going: Low impact -> middle kind of impact -> powerful impact.

In artifact 2 it's: Middle kind of impact -> Powerful impact. And that's it, when you have access to 6 mana, you're destroying, even though normally those only happens after 8 mana on other games. I understand that in 1.0 they had to make those come early because if not the game would last even more than the average 40 minutes. But the same isn't necessary in 2.0 where rounds happen faster, it could have a normal pace on the mana system, now.

Artifact 1.0 just got a 1.5 gb update?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 04:27 PM PDT

    What changed?

EDIT: Nope! I'm sorry! I've been making a total conversation mod and I forgot to recompile the vpks so the game re-downloaded all the files it thought it was missing.

Though steamdb does say that the most recent update was 3 days ago, so idk what that's about
