Everyone who didn’t unsub should get a “long hauler” flair

    ie, the people currently subbed.

We need to be able to draft 1v1 with friends this time around

    Posted: 02 Apr 2020 05:52 PM PDT

It always blew my mind that they required 4 people to be together to play draft. No excuses I can think of to not allow it.

Valve, since cards won't be sold and we're waiting for 2.0...

    Posted: 02 Apr 2020 07:30 AM PDT

Could you give everyone who owns the game a full set of cards (marked as untradable to avoid any Steam market glitch) so that some of us, who've never been able to play constructed to its full extent, can have some fun, while we wait for 2.0?

2.0 approaches - let's remember the things Dota did right.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2020 12:44 PM PDT

    1. It's monetization model was built on cosmetics.
I don't want to elaborate on this much more. The monetization model of Artifact has been talked to death on these pages. I'm just stipulating that Dota 2s monetization model worked - it still works. It was a perfect move by valve at the time and elaborated on what they had learned in TF2. It got valve money - and the community for the most part likes it (downside: it preys on whales). Artifact seemed to throw the concept out with the bathwater, so to speak.
    2. (and my main point) It had early in-game spectating.
Early in development Valve prioritized spectating tools for dota - they understood it's potential as an E-sport, and wanted to support that potential. But there was a less pronounced benefit that occurred that I think is often overlooked. Spectating your friends. I remember in the early days of dota, when I didn't yet have a solid a stack, going into my friends' matches and waiting for them to be finished, the whole game environment felt... alive. Like there was always something happening. Which brings us to Artifact . I haven't seen many people on here talk about the blunder of not having ANY spectating tools on launch for artifact. I remember vividly when the Artifact hype was alive and well - my friends hoping onto our discord server when pings went out for a match and then realizing there was an odd number of players. They would just have to leave the discord or sit there listening to us talk about the match. Usually they would leave. Wether you like it or not a card game is social, especially one that has such a serious and slow tone. Valve should be providing IN-GAME tools to connect with friends and new players. This includes better tools for bringing people together to play tournaments. It would be nice to have a tournament happen in a single day of the weekend - that should be facilitated by the game. Instead it was like herding cats getting my friends to follow through on matches and getting a tourney to completion.

I really hope Artifact launches with both in-game spectating tools AND better tournament support tools. Even some kind of waiting room where you and your friends can interact as avatars before actual matches happen. Some version of play that brings people together. I still attest that that was Artifacts biggest failure. It's lack of social tools, which both tourney organizing and spectating tools are essentially. They connect friends. I remember everyone saying "the game feels lonely" it felt like a social desert. - This should not be underestimated valve. I really hope they take this component seriously as they go forward.

TLDR: I'm really hoping Valve recognizes the lack of social tools in Artifact and ensures that the new launch has proper spectating, better social tools and better tournament organizing in the launch of 2.0.

    beta key random algorhythm

    Posted: 02 Apr 2020 01:29 AM PDT

so, now we know they will distribute random close beta access to those who already owned the game.

but we all know that most randomness algorhythms are actually pseudorandom and not truly random. So i propose an algorhythm that favours me in detriment of others that are not me.

thanks for coming to this TED talk

I will be very disappointed if Artifact 2.0 goes the casual way, but at the same time I would get it.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2020 06:11 AM PDT

The thing I loved the most about artifact was the the difference in performance I had playing casually and when I tryharded, it was a huge gap, no other cardgame is like that for me. After some games my brain gets actually tired.

But at the same time I get it if they move away from this, games that are slow and needs investiment are not that popular anymore (not because we are the few big brains left, the world is just way more dynamic). Also I think I cant take another batch of players that think they are gods at the game but RNG always fucks them, if I hear "only lost cause RNG is shit on this game" I will die.

Good beta for us long haulers, our time has come!

Some folks seem to have the wrong impression.. If you owned Artifact 1.2 before the last blog post, you will get access before anyone who bought it after, or anyone who doesn't own the game

    Posted: 02 Apr 2020 08:36 PM PDT

Trickle out invites, starting with players of the original release (ramping up similar to Dota 2)

So some owners may get access a few days before others, but you will get in eventually..

The rest of the world will be dancing for keys or praying RNGesus LUL

What aspects of LoR would you like to see implemented in Artifact 2.0

    Posted: 02 Apr 2020 04:13 PM PDT

I've been playing runeterra and I've been really enjoying it. But from playing artifact before it I can see all the inspirations the LoR deba took from it. The action based combat, the simultaneous attack phase etc.

I imagine like me there were some artifact players that saw the similarities and jumped into LoR to get a feel for it. I'm curious to know what you guys think artifact 2.0 should take from LoR. The spell mana and the spell stack seems like good addition to add the complexity of artifact imo.

Edit: also things from LoR that you'd like NOT implemented in artifact 2.0

What games did you buy selling your cards while waiting on the long haul? Was it worth?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2020 02:23 PM PDT

I sold my axe, drow, annihilations and ToTs to buy RE2, worth it while I was thinking the long haul would take 20 years, now I regret it, I miss my mono blue so much!! Gotta save some bucks now.

Sorry if those posts are not allowed.

    Started Playing Artifact Again!

    Posted: 02 Apr 2020 04:12 AM PDT

Having a blast playing Artifact again, now that everyone is back on the hype train, why wait till you get into the beta, why not start playing again right now! Queue are still pretty empty but with some patience you can get into matches, the more people join the easier it will get for everybody!

Since Cards will not be purchasable anymore in 2.0 Valve should disable purchasing packs in 1.0 too

    Posted: 02 Apr 2020 12:18 AM PDT

Don't think you should still be able to buy packs in 1.0. Instead, give every 1.0 player a free full collection until 2.0.

I have 800 hours in Artifact - can I be in the beta?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2020 01:09 PM PDT

It would be nice if people with the most hours, or the most hours from the past few months all were able to get in.

Everyone is doing a battle pass these days...

    Posted: 02 Apr 2020 04:03 AM PDT

Everyone is doing a battle pass these days...

A battle pass was added to Gwent.

I am flabbergasted to see what happened to Gwent yesterday.

I think we can all see what is coming for Artifact 2's monetization.

I don't know how I feel about all these battle passes. I was okay with a yearly one in Dota2, but now, all these time-limited unlocks...
