    Posted: 31 May 2020 02:20 PM PDT

Something important about Shop many might have missed (and making Shop simpler and more attractive)

    Posted: 31 May 2020 07:07 AM PDT

Pronto (tv/pronto08), who was in the beta before it went live, often gives insights into how game developed during earlier stages. He says as well that Shop is still work in progress, and is probably not finalized (if enough people don't like current implementation as well).

More interestingly he reveals how item slots work. The left slot is always an item from your highest upgraded level, middle item is always random, and the right item is one you can always afford.

With this in mind, I think we can very well avoid having the Upgrade button, and instead replace it with a Reroll button for 2 gold, once in a round, which doesn't remove the Earn (Get) option (it's "BUY ITEMS" and "OR GET GOLD", nothing says you can't Reroll). We would as well have one of three items always be affordable (random slot), and two other random. The 30g items would now cost ~40g, etc. Items would again have varied prices (easier to balance and more attractive), tiers would be gone (but different text backgrounds/bars can be kept similar to current).

A downside is that "GET +3 GOLD" option becomes less dynamic, and no longer increases. Tower Enchantments and other cards/heroes could still manipulate this option. Maybe Get button would fill up visually from left to right every Reroll, and after 3 Rerolls (at least 3 rounds) it would upgrade to Get +4, aso.

Something like this (maybe you could Reroll more than once every round, but Reroll cost would increase by 2 for every Reroll this round).

There will still be 10 items in deck and 10 (11 currently) added from Secret shop (in a balanced fashion). And for every extra item you add to deck, one random is added to secret shop as well (currently you can't increase your item deck beyond 10).

It would be more attractive to have this kind of more chaotic, rogue Shop, with varied and easier to balance item prices.

I got invited. How rough is the beta feature-wise? It looked pretty unpolished from the early footage

See title. I don't wanna download if all cards are just placeholders with no animation/art or anything.

Edit: Can this sub be more salty. I just asked a legit question. Have to disable inbox replies

Would you agree to a client merge with Underlords?

    Posted: 31 May 2020 02:28 AM PDT

I've been thinking if Artifact and Underlords could have benefited from a merger and slight rebranding since both games are at their quasi-low point.

There are several benefits to the merger:

    • Both games uses the same engine and are made by almost the same developers within Valve.
    • Auto Battlers and CCG seemingly share a lot of players as both genres are heavily designed around risk and composition.
    • They share the same lore and timeline.
    • If predictions came true, they will soon use the same monetization model and have mobile port.
    • It will be cool to see Artifact and Underlords interact and bounce off each other in terms of story presentation.
    • A fresh image for both Underlords and especially Artifact who came out during unfortunate Valve-hateboner times.
    • Journalists will definitely report on this little unique maneuver, giving both games small exposure boost they desperately needed.
    • Cheat the metrics (player count and Twitch views) by having 2 playerbase in one.
    • Valve games often suffer from trickling updates post-release and having two games together will create the illusion of twice the amount of updates per week.
    • If file size is a concern for those who only wish to play one game, make the base client a hub and the games optional content so they are downloaded separately.

What do you think? Think Valve can and should be encouraged to pull off such a feat?
