I'm enjoying 2.0, generally very happy with the changes they've made, but felt there was something missing when playing. Watching the 1.0 gameplay made me remember how good it looked, can't wait for 2.0 to get the visual update :D

Recieved beta access two days ago and after 18 hours of play I can surely say that I like it

    Posted: 28 Jun 2020 03:35 AM PDT

Didn't sleep tonight. 12 hours straight is pretty bad for health but damn I waited for too long. There are some things I'd change but overall it is pretty enloyable and fun

Another 6 decks to try in the new Constructed

    Posted: 28 Jun 2020 11:59 AM PDT

Here are 6 lists for 2.0's Constructed made and described by Carpetman, who's been playing the beta since the first wave of invites.

    Deck viewer

    UB Armor Control

    RTFACTJVMQ9rkCBRiC6RIEVm29AoSYUlurAbECsAFKvAWPh4hVQiBDb250cm9sIEFybW9y

"UB-control with a lot of damage and minus armor.

I think Skywrath Mage is one of the strongest blue heroes. Not only he has a great ability, but also a great signature card, just like Crystal Maiden. In total, you have pretty agile and somewhat classic control with late-game potential using black heroes, Demolishing Warhammer, and Exorcism. In my opinion, such agile control-decks are the most effective".

    RG Carpaunt

    RTFACTJeEHtLkC4AEEbxU2BeICBbC7ArUCmYJRMQKciqMBrgGgBkq3AlJHIENhcnA_

"A variation of RG-ramp that focuses on stalling until you can use Time of Triumph.

A lot of Taunts and combos with this mechanic allow you to lower the pace of your opponent, for example, with Enchantress' or Keefe's abilities.

Not really popular Sand King actually has a Taunt-like signature card, allowing you to control spammed lanes. His ability is quite useful in this deck.

Also what's worth mentioning is the Living Armor + Stars Align combo: when using Living Armor, you are guaranteed to get Stars Align from your deck since it is the only card with lower cost. This is a really strong combo for any kind of ramp".

UGR Timeline Combo (OD, OM, CM)

    RTFACTJXkfO7kClekSBGoD3wWkvQKJR6kBFLICSGwCdAaOi4K8A24BVUdSIFRpbWVsaW5lIENvbWJvIChWZW5vbWFuY2VyKQ__

"UGR-combo. The main card is Fractured Timeline, which not only allows you to stall but activate strong abilities multiple times.

Currently, Outworld Devourer + Ogre-Magi + Crystal Maiden flop combo is one of the strongest. It allows you to use 6 mana in round 1.

Living Armor allows you to draw Fractured Timeline (just like Stars Align in the previous deck), while Ogre-Magi copies it when cast.

The idea of the deck is to use Fractured Timeline and other card e.g. Venomancer, Exorcism, and Conflagration in the Ogre's lane, and defeat your opponent not allowing him to do anything in that lane.

Maelrawn Pupate is one of the key cards here. Using Fractured Timeline, you can quickly create the 32/32 creep with Trample, and even if it's killed, you are still okay. Even though the deck may look like a meme one, it is actually pretty effective".

    UG Timeline Combo (ODOMCM)

    RTFACTJZoWe7kCzQSI9xIFPAKkvQKuAUmDUYKyAmMCkbcGi6kEbgFVRyBUaW1lbGluZSBSYW1wIENvbWJv

"The previous deck has been pushed to the extreme. This one uses the same combination, but with just 2 colors. The focus is on ramp and Maelrawn Pupate. Rix, Oathbound's signature card allows you to throw your 32/32 creep into the tower. Earlier in the game, Rix hits the tower for 8, so that only 32 health remain (Maelrawn Pupate's stacks are multiples of two, so on the 6th time becomes 32)".

    MonoBlack+OD Aggro Trebuchet

    RTFACTJQcU9rkCBJT9EgV8AjoHsb0CPgE1BacGhoiCg4mnA6kBowG9BEIrT0QgVHJlYnVjaGV0IEFnZ3Jv

"Even though this one is pushed to the extreme, it is a very strong aggro. Cards are cheap, have push potential, and often combine with other cards.

Outworld Devourer is probably the strongest hero in Constructed since he can break the pace of the game, as well as activating Living Armor in any kind of decks, even in mono ones.

Rix, Oathbound is also a really strong hero now. He combines very well with The Oath and lots of units from the shop. His ability and the units don't require heroes to be played, allowing him to constantly hit the tower with the attack bonus from The Oath.

Infernal Ally works well with Acolyte of the Forbidden Gate and Committed Rebel; Living Armor combines with Trebuchet; all these work great with Debbie and Path of the Cunning.

In my opinion, due to the current power of aggro, it is one of the strongest decks. It pushes fast and hits the tower directly. Often you just can't fight that.

If you want to make this deck more consistent and a bit less aggressive, you may want to add Death Prophet".

    UG Rapid

    RTFACTJdsJarkCG-cSBMsFsweruwKcpwMCuwKUpwERrAe6A6IGjqEDUmFwaWQgMi4w

"Also pushed to the extreme, this one is my very first deck in Constructed. It's strong, though, and is a great base for your thoughts about how a deck should look.

The idea is to pressure your opponent with Rapid Deployment heroes and Prellex + Kanna combination, as well as these 2 factors:

    1. Prellex and Kanna combo is quite strong. Using Barracks in Kanna's lane makes her Hounds grow even further, devouring more stats. The Hound is 3/1 without Barracks and 5/3 — with. Each one of them also has Trample. There are also Call the Reserves and Spirit of Desolation, spawning as a 6/4 Hound in the first round, if your opponent hasn't played any units.
    2. One important detail is that you have to get your Hounds out of nukes' range such as At Any Cost. Here comes Anshu. She is placed on turn specifically for that because you have to deploy her into Kanna's lane. Kill Anshu by any means, either using her signature or spawning something on top of her. Her death will make all of your Hounds stronger, increasing their health by 2. Side note: if you spawn a unit on top of her, it becomes a Hound as well.

This deck is quite strong yet underdeveloped, so it has room to grow. You can make this list much better!"

    On oscillating combat direction

    Posted: 28 Jun 2020 10:30 AM PDT

Often in the early game you need to decide which lanes will get supplemental hero backup and where to deploy creeps.

With the progress of the game, often those decisions become important because of oscillating combat direction.

I obviously understand this mechanic is there to prevent draws. I notice however how it's extremely hard to plan for it more than one round in advance. So basically it's the round before game end where you first pay attention to this.

Also notice how they've already had to adjust heros to compensate for this rules adjustment.

I propose we try to find an alternative solution that doesn't feel like a coin flip on the last round. This is particularly important because currently, dark rift and vendetta are pretty much the only global movement abilities, and there's few cards helping to adjust (intimidate, relentless, storm spirit)

I don't know how people feel about this but I'd like to put it back on the table for discussion.

I was streaming playing a very serious competitive 4-color Greevil deck when a rather silly bug happened and made it all much more interesting than it needed to be.

    Posted: 28 Jun 2020 06:04 PM PDT

Link to the stream VoD where it happened: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/663992866

    Game starts at 1:55:15

The bug shows up after 2:00:10 but I would recommend watching the whole game.

Also, re-watching it, I realized that I called Tidehunter "Timbersaw" and I called the shop "chat" like a derp. Now I know how AdmiralBulldog felt when he accidentally called his dota team "chat" on stream.

I made some changes to the greevil deck before playing if you wanna see it in the deck-builder at: 1:28:10 and later at 1:49:50.

And the bug stayed for the following game as well. So that got pretty interesting too.

If you want to see my ramp deck go off with the nuts draw check out the game before the greevil game. It starts at 1:30:59.

If you liked the content you can tune in some time next weekend where I plan to stream again.

How can I keep my Mac from overheating?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2020 09:51 AM PDT

I just got the beta in this recent wave and no matter what I do the laptop fans go crazy and the computer overheats.

I have a 2019 MacBook pro with the big screen and 16 gigs of ram.

What's the deal with this? Do I need a super high quality video card optimized for gaming?

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2020 09:58 AM PDT

I keep asking myself if I actually signed up or if I have a broken account or something. Can we please get some info or something I don't even know how to get the beta in my library.

Is everyone who signed up to the beta going to get beta access? Or are some people just never going to get the beta before the game goes live?

Sorry if this post sounds salty, I just want to play the game.

    Artifact 2.0 thoughts and feedback

    Posted: 28 Jun 2020 07:21 AM PDT

I'd like to say a few words about Artifact 2.0 and Artifact. Valve bought me the moment Day9 described the game. The announcement also greatly upset me because I worked on my own game which seemed very similar to Artifact and was based around drafting. After buying the game I quickly realized it's not what I'd believed it to be. It was yet another collectible card game. Valve lost me there. With the arrival of Artifact 2.0, my hopes got high again. I played against the bots and other players and while the live draft feels really nice, it isn't exactly what I wished for. So what is what I am looking for in Artifact 2.0.

    • Dota 2-like draft with bans (choosing from the all-hero pool).
    • All heroes deployed on the round one.
    • Each hero has four abilities (passive/active). No other cards are available to players during the game. If the hero is dead, the cards/skills cannot be used.
    • Each hero has its own mana pool. Heroes has a different mana pool for balance purposes.
    • Each active skill has a cooldown.
    • Traditional Dota 2-like item shop. Underlords' shop sucks, unfortunately.
    • Two tiers of towers.
    • Ancient must be destroyed to win the game.

In other words Dota 2 as a "card" game. I honestly wouldn't care less if the game remained as it is and above was incorporated only as a mode.

What are your thoughts about this idea? Would you rather see Artifact remain the collectible card game or move and differentiate itself in the genre?

EDIT. Where is the hate coming from? Can you at least comment and argue your downvote?
