"What you do now is more important than what you say" - Sean Murray GDC

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewq203-TXOs&t=536

Interesting tidbit from the GDC where Sean Murray talks about some Valve employee giving him this kind of advice. Maybe they still stick to this philosophy and that is why we have this deafening silence.

Since Artifact, like NMS back in the day, is surrounded by so much negativity and naysaying, whatever Valve says will not change the opinion of all the negative voices who allready made up their mind. It would only fuel new endless discussion and circlejerk without accomplishing anything from the side of Valve in terms of damage control.
So just shutting up and internally trying to work on a fix for the game pretty much in the style of NMS, which has long since really redeemed itself, might be their course of action.

Of course a fundamental paradigm or direction shift (if they intend to do so) would take time to code and polish. Now telling people something is coming even though it will take months to finish will not be satisfying for them..again probably only fuelling the circlejerk. People would want details...if you give them, they will again in advance find 1000 reasons why what you do is wrong or futile etc.

So really just trying to fix it, pushing the fix out when it is ready and hoping people will find it compelling when it is there to experience is probably the best and only really viable action Valve can take. They hinted at it with "the long haul" in the patch notes and i guess this is what we will be getting in the end.

When? Nobody knows, nobody knows how much they try to change or fix or rework and how long this takes so we just have to wait. While I am not actively playing artifact much right now, I do like the core of the game and i will be keeping an eye out for a bigger patch now and then.

4 months since release, where's the expansion?

    Posted: 27 Mar 2019 08:21 AM PDT

in the absence of any pre-release statement to the contrary it was reasonable for anyone buying artifact to expect the game to follow the CCG industry standard of releasing expansions every 4 months and it was with that expectation that i bought the game. whatever other problems artifact might have the lack of an expansion is the true slap in the face to those who are still interested in the game. no the baseless claims by valve fanboys that the game is being reworked do not excuse this and certainly a statement months ago that they're "in it for the long haul" does not either.
