Posted: 13 Mar 2019 04:04 PM PDT Recent thoughts: Artifact has problems, sure, and we know what Valve is like with communication. Today's thoughts: But the more I play of this game, the less I enjoy of it, slowly to the point of why am I even fucking bothering to load it up. Out of 200+ hours, It feels like everything I learn gets unlearnt from events out of my control, I can't enjoy draft due to faulty made decks from lack of important cards and constructed has people abusing decks that clearly the creators has no intention of trying to smooth out. I stayed as long as I could, hoping to be proven wrong, but I finally understand the people who don't find this game fun. I wish I had learnt faster than they did [link] [comments]

Arrows should follow dota rules Posted: 13 Mar 2019 09:20 AM PDT Having your creeps and hero land on random positions should be enough rng on deployment. Arrows should follow specific rules that can be manipulated. All creeps prefer a creep as a target than a hero or the tower. They prefer heroes instead of tower. They prefer anyone attacking a hero. They prefer anyone attacking a tower. They prefer anyone attacking a hero to anyone attacking a tower. And it can be dynamically applied. A creep is summoned that attacks neighbor hero. The creep changes target. I can see why it would seemed too complicated at launch but as other mechanics it would be quickly caught by players that I believe would prefer a complicated order to this rng. Cards and heroes that are inherited random (ogre magee, Bounty Hunter, Tidehunter) are not a problem. You know what to expect. But arrows... I hate arrows. [link] [comments]
very dumb insignificant request not worth valve's time but it's important to me Posted: 13 Mar 2019 10:26 AM PDT i prefer to keep the music volume set to zero so i may listen to my own tunes, but i love the little musical sting when you begin a game of artifact. the experience feels incomplete without it. is there any way we can independently adjust the volume of these two things? thank you for reading mr./mrs./ms./[gender nonconforming honorific] valve person. please ignore this request and good luck on the long haul. Am I the only one who thinks Mono Blue would be a lot weaker without Annihilation? Posted: 13 Mar 2019 07:18 PM PDT In my experience, without Annihilation, Mono Blue is super easy to beat. Unless the card flops and the rng favors Blue perfectly, Mono Blue really doesn't have a Plan B if Annihilation is never drawn and the game gets hard in any shape or form. EDIT: To put some perspective, other colors do have a "Plan B" to get a game back/win conditions. Green has all of it's ramps, Quorum, Thunderhide packs and alphas. Red has Triump, Axe Call, Ravage, Beastmaster Roar, as well as just being incredibly tanky. Black has Coup, Oath, Disciple, Chain Frost, really just any auto killers. Blue really feels like without Annihilation it's almost impossible to win. I guess you can say Bolt of Damocles falls under the "Plan B" category but I feel it only reaches a situation where Bolt gets used because the game was delayed by Annihilation. [link] [comments]
This game is at its best in Draft play Posted: 13 Mar 2019 04:37 PM PDT It has a lot of streaming potential with drafts, and I honestly think constructed play actually created the bad popularity of the game (p2p2p). I've read somewhere that the original intention was to not have a constructed play, and it makes a lot of sense to have a paywall if people would get access to all cards. If the focus of the game were drafting instead of constructed, I think the impression caused over players would have been much much better. [link] [comments]
My take on a Diabolic Revelation cycle (1 Mana, Draw 2 + effect). Posted: 13 Mar 2019 11:27 AM PDT The original: Blue: Diabolic Revelation, 1 Mana, Draw 2 cards. Deal 2 damage to allies in all lanes. All other variations are 1 Mana and follow the same format of drawing 2 first, followed by the negative effect. Since blue is a colour of AoE damage, this spell uses their strength against them. Black: Draw 2 cards. Reveal your hand. Although hand reveal is not yet a thing in Artifact, Black is the colour of cunning, thieves, secrets. Using that strength against them would lose them some element of surprise by revealing their hand and strategy. Red: Draw 2 cards. Disarm a random allied Red hero. Red is the colour of the warrior. Warriors fight. The last thing a fighter wants is to be benched. Green: Draw 2 cards. Set your base Mana to 3. To be clear, this means if you are at 4 Mana when casting the spell, you spend 1, and after the 2 cards are drawn, you are set to 3 Mana. Green is strong in the current meta for it's ramp. This spell sets you back Mana in the lane it is played. It can be a short term advantage in a lane that is exhausted of most of it's Mana, gaining you a net +2 Mana along with the 2 cards. Do you enjoy the fact that if you don't have a hero in that lane you literally cannot do anything? Posted: 13 Mar 2019 11:26 AM PDT I think it's really dumb. There should be cards or mechanics that let you interact with the board at least a little bit, even if you don't have a hero there. Like neutral cards that can be played at any time, but the cards are much weaker than normal cards.. or something like that. [link] [comments]
Can someone explain Valve's politics to me? Posted: 13 Mar 2019 11:26 AM PDT So as we know Artifact is a total failure, which should be kind of embarassing for such a big game company having billions of dollars. I would assume that after such a disappointment any company would try to fix the situation or at least give some official statement concerning state of the game. But Valve doesn't do any of these things, they simply hide and pretend nothing happens. As a customer I think that is unacceptable, buying a product and supporting company should not be rewarded with complete silence and no communication. I think that everyone can agree that current state is a total disaster and behaving like this is simple disrespect. I could deal with this if Artifact was a single-player game but right now its partly-finished garbage with no basic functions which was advertised as a big e-sport material with great future. I could deal with half-finished game if developers actually tried to fix the situation but Valve simply does NOTHING. Even if they are working hard on it, there is no reason not to let players know about what's going on. Bitch move from Valve really. The whole "b-but Valve doesn't need to say anything, they let the game's quality do the talking" is a totall bullshit coming from fanboys, game is a total garbage at this state and brings only bad fame. Actually I don't know what did I expect as I played Dota 2 and still remember times when I was mad at Valve for staying silent for long time without any explanation when problems happened. I'm quite sure that Dota 2 would be a complete disaster if it was original game by Valve, they just got lucky by having basis for a good game already, the only things that they needed to do was to upgrade graphics and add new features from time to time. But as we see on the example of Artifact, they seem to forget very basics of making video games and maintaining them, mostly the latter. Because Artifact is great game in fact, only needs some love and adding some minor (but important) functions. I'm not expert developer myself but I'm sure that listening to solid ideas given by community (such as better monetization or adding features like global chat and leaderboards) and implementing them isn't that hard. Indie companies with no money would do better than that. In conclusion, I think that there are several reasons for such behaviour. Anyways, I don't think behaving like this should be an option in 2019. It's totally disrespectful and unprofessional when comparing to other modern games studios who actively cooperate with communities by making streams, weekly reports and discuss suggestions on forums. I am quite surprised that even now there are still people who defend Valve or pretend that things like this are normal. [link] [comments] |
