    Interview: Bruno & Skaff Elias

    Posted: 10 Mar 2019 03:00 AM PDT

This is a very interesting interview that happened prior to the launch:

    Interview: Bruno & Skaff Elias

Where are these 2 people now?

    1. Skaff Elias was recently terminated by Valve (when the 3 Donkeys consultancy contract was terminated).
    2. Bruno is now in Valve's headquarters with his hair on fire, as part of the team trying to work out how to turn Artifact around. Bruno is not just a programmer and former Dota commentator, he is a dev sitting in meetings discussing what the heck to do to turn the ship around.

    Hot Takes:

    1. It was hilarious when Bruno mentioned that he had access to a Replay function, and also that when watching the replays they often still couldn't work out what was the correct or incorrect play. This in fact was one of the big criticisms of Reynad (and others) who said that a problem with the game is that you don't know whether your decision was right or wrong, giving you the feeling that maybe it didn't even matter at all.
    2. It was even funnier when Skaff corrected Bruno by saying 'Hey, it's not just a $1 million tournament! It's $1 million for the first prize alone!!" I had to roll on the floor to laugh my ass off at that one.

At least salvage the amazing lore

    Posted: 10 Mar 2019 12:31 AM PST

Whatever happens to this game, I just wish Valve at least salvages the lore and expand something upon it. There is great potential. Can't get enough of listening those card lore.

    Raena's RixRB rampecon

    Posted: 10 Mar 2019 12:53 PM PDT

Today i had a pleasure to play this beauty in play offs of local Artifact league. Though my opponents probably are not tier-1 players, they were ready to bring all the meta decks we love the most: monoU, monoR, RG-ramp, trying to counter each other, so not to be in RPS scenario i decided to bring there something special, that wouldn't be targeted, while also being strong enough to win the event. I finished 2nd there, losing 2-3 to monoU with teched in "Lost in time", but overall i'm happy with the performance

I woin't deny current list is far from being optimized, BH especially doesnt seem to work that well, but the one card i was most curious of worked 100%. Rix is equal to 2 green heroes in my opinion. Though lacking stats Rix lets you play 10-14 green cards and you won't feel lacking anything.

Maybe some of you can remember me being first to play 46+ cards in monoU cometitively, and I still believe that people are too afraid to put extras. Artifact is all about card ratio: color ratio, mana ratio: creature-spell ratio and it's much more important than running exact 40. f.e. here you need play heavy green cards so ramp isn't useless, but while doign so you start lacking black cards\early game\etc. For such 3-color to work it needs at least 45 cards to keep ratios good, and it's ok.

Less important thing to mention: Cloack of Endless Carnage is good even outside of monoU

I hope this list will inspire at least some of you to think out of the box. Even such stale meta isn't solved yet. Will be happy to answer any of your questions regarding this deck

    My Dream for Artifact

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 11:52 PM PST

    Custom Cards
    Custom Games
I want fully customization everything. Imagine downloading a pack of cards someone had created from the subreddit, hosting a lobby and playing matches against whoever joins. Lobbies where people could join and leave at any point. No need to wait for 4 people to start a tournament and no more locking the lobby once the games have started. People could create their own balance patches to play with and test out, but wait, there's more.
Give players (the lobby host) the ability to customize much more aspects of the game. Fully customize the tournament timer, ban individual cards or fully color sets. Randomizer banning 50% of all cards and then force the players to build/draft their own decks with whats left.
I fully 100% believe that if Artifact had custom lobbies and custom games, it wouldn't matter how shit the ladder/MMR system was, or that you have to pay money to own cards. Valve could implement all of this without changing the core game or the core ideas behind the game (Pay for cards). I get it Valve, its hard to admit your wrong and you fucked up the game. Don't worry, if you allow players to make custom cards, games and lobbies you can keep all the bad stuff.
Though just for the record, everyone should be able to at least download the game and play draft (and custom lobbies) without spending a dime.

    Arrow RNG suggestion

    Posted: 10 Mar 2019 09:06 AM PDT

to my state of mind it always seems to feel as though the bullshit arrow nonsense feels the worst by far every, single, time. so. just get rid of it. it almost makes no sense in-game other than to frustrate and break immersion.

So what if we simply took out the possibility of arrow RNG altogether? in other words, what if all heroes and creeps simply attacked what was in front of them by default. with the possibility of attacking to the left or right dependent solely on the play of arrow management cards. leave everything else as is.

i feel like this miraculously simply solution would almost single handedly fix the "feel" of the game relative to the "#feelsbadman" RNG that we seem all to agree is a little too much.

some RNG will still exist. creep deploy. hero lane position. but some board state RNG probably should exist tbh imo.

Probablly doubled meppo winrate in draft

One of the streamers for Artifact has been promising to hold a 10k tournament among it's viewers and when the time came went radio silent about it.

    Posted: 10 Mar 2019 12:26 AM PST

I know that Artifact isn't popular right now and I guess it was expected to have more viewers income but one of the reasons I committed to this was this promise. It's a lot of money for a person especially from my country and I had high hopes to have a chance on this new scene. Because of this, I dumped a lot of money in the game cause I wanted to practice with all meta decks to have a decent chance. It's just not fucking fair to treat people who trusted you like this, just ghosting them when you didn't earn enough money to stick to your word and keep your promise. Yea, it doesn't make sense from the financial perspective for you but you fucking made a promise and I think a lot of people spent money on you and watched you at least partially because you made this promise!

Now change that streamer that never existed to Valve and 10k to 1kk and answer me, you dancing hypocrite monkey, why were you pissed about shit that this non-existed streamer pulled towards people but at the same time think it's okay that Valve did this beCaUsE iT dOeSn'T mAkE sEnSe To HoLd It NoW?
