Left because tournament mode is unplayable, posting because I want to come back

Hi, last Artifact player here. Jokes aside, I had intentions to continue playing until this happened a 2nd time.

I've played some tournaments and I've had this issue before but never as bad as this. Last Saturday (yesterday) I played in a 128 man tournament only to find out that the game would freeze for several seconds at a time, eating up my timer while risking a pass that I didn't want to do in some crucial turns. Because it was a tournament I had to put in the time to qualify for and because my best player experience is playing draft tournaments, it motivated the decision to stop playing until they fix this. The game runs perfectly fine in smaller tournaments and in other play modes, and I've seen people complain about this who have PCs with much higher specs than mine so I assume the issue is with the tournament mode.

Does anyone share this experience? At this point I need to know if there are plans to optimize the tournament mode but seeing as Valve is not going to say anything I'll probably end up shifting my focus to another game if they take too long to deliver.

Artifact Bitcoin League Finals are currently being played ($2000 prize pool)

Round of 8 has just finished drafting. Quite possibly the most competitive Artifact tournament to date, if you enjoy the game I would recommend coming to watch these games.

    Is Artifact Worth Saving?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2019 09:50 AM PST

From Valve's perspective they've already sunk a great cost into creating this game, polishing it with great art and voice lines, but there is no audience. Their reputation has already taken a big hit. Is it worth if for them to sink more money into the game and risk digging themselves in a bigger hole when it seems like only a handful of people are actually interested? Even if they fixed all the problems their dream of having a E-Sport card game seems unrealistic at this point.

Anyone else occasionally match with a player who never plays cards?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2019 03:51 AM PST

Ive had this twice now, the enemy just never plays cards and waits for the timer to run out when deploying.

I imagine they're a bot as they seem to always have a string of numbers as their username and never chat.

    Anyone else had this?

Edit: ok this is a known issue

Returning player here, any deck tips?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2019 08:58 AM PST

    Hi guys,

I played during launch for around 10ish hours, mostly experimenting with Drow Ranger decks since I managed to pack her in my starters. I kinda want to return to the game now, but I have no idea what type of decks are actually good for (essentially) a beginner in this stage of the game, since I assume that the players who are still playing are quite good now. Any suggestions?

I will be paying real money for the next expansion when it launches. Who is with me?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2019 06:24 PM PST

When the next expansion launches I want Valve to know that there are players who are in it for the Long Haul too. For Artifact to be viable commercially they will likely need to keep selling packs (or cosmetics) unless something drastic changes. Instead of buying cards or cosmetics through the market I intend on voting with my dollars on launch day, even if it means I end up paying a bit more.

This is not a troll or a joke. Are there others out there who are thinking of doing the same? The only way this game doesn't die is if it is making money.

Currently my friend is 10% of the Artifact streamers

    Some group working against Artifact?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2019 07:43 AM PST

Today in 3 streams (ekop, skybook, kiwi) I have seen random people telling the streamers to "stop streaming this dead game" and spamming dead game again and again in chat. One of them was even suggesting to play "Gwent" and they say they are doing this for the "sake of streamers, we want them to be successful".
