The 15th Weekly Stupid Questions Thread

Ready the questions! Feel free to ask anything (no matter how seemingly moronic).

When the first hit strikes wtih desolator, the hit stirkes as if the - armor debuff had already been placed?

There's no desolator in this game yet.

Daily Card Discussion - Bolt of Damocles

    Posted: 05 Mar 2019 09:04 AM PST

    Bolt of Damocles

    Color: Blue

    Type: Spell

    Mana: 10

    Rarity: Rare

    Illustrator: Daniel Romanovsky

Summary: Deal 20 damage to the enemy tower.

Lore: Some mistake my taking on the mortal coil as a sign that I have grown weaker. Every now and again I like to remind the world that that isn't the case. My wife would say that cratering a city is overkill. She's probably right. But I've always been a fan of grand gestures. — Zeus, Poor Impulse Control

    • What decks/cards (spells/improvements/heroes/creeps) synergize well with Bolt of Damocles?

    • What format (constructed vs. draft) does Bolt of Damocles do well in?

    • What kind of experiences have you had with Bolt of Damocles?

    • What changes would you make (if any) to Bolt of Damocles?

    Mars

    Posted: 05 Mar 2019 11:34 AM PST

Hi Valve. When is the Q1 Million$ Tournament, and What is the Qualification Path for it? Thanks. <3

    Posted: 05 Mar 2019 05:16 PM PST

As a card game lover and specialist, I started playing Artifact due to the marketing of a 1st place million dollar tournament in Q1 2019. Finally, a true card game esport, instead of McDonald's salaries for the best of the best!

I've been holding on but i'm losing hope here, as the end of March nears - over 3 months since launch without a single mention of the tournament. Please don't make me move on to other games.

Did anyone find any lore tie-ins with Mars?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2019 09:11 PM PST

In Dota 2, some of the newer heroes mention prominent things in Artifact lore, such as the Jasper Circle, and Tyler Estate. The Juggernaut Arcana also added voice lines about Sorla Khan when talking to Axe. I looked through the voice lines for Mars, and besides some generic "I don't like demons" lines, the closest Artifact reference I could find is this line referencing Quoidge, and even that isn't much because Quoidge is also mentioned in Pudge's bio. I wonder if they planned to add Mars to Artifact at a later date, or if the Artifact lore was already "finished" before they started designing Mars, so he isn't part of the story arc at all.

X-Post since we don't have anything better to talk about. What is it like working at a company during and after the release of a negatively received game?

Any deck tier list at day?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2019 04:19 PM PST

I just get all the cards and I want to play every tier 1/2/3 deck.

Artifact needs to be on mobile

I and a lot of people will be more willing to play if we can do it from our phones or tablets

Why did Valve create 4 color cards when DOTA2 are only 3 colors?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2019 06:48 PM PST

    Dota2 has 3 colors:
Red - Strength (Tanks, initiators, disablers)

Green - Agility (Damage dealers, weapon specialists, high attack speeds)

Blue - Intelligence (High mana pool, magic and spells, team support, healers)

Why did Valve opt to also include Black heroes instead of sticking with red, green and blue?

What would you think about 3 colors for the heroes and using black cards for neutral creeps, spells and improvements?

This could make rainbow decks a little more interesting (and easier to pull off) and could also make the game feel a little more like Dota.

I'd like to hear your opinions.

Seriously, what do you get just by being here posting "daed gaem"?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2019 03:59 PM PST

I get hating the hype for misleading you into buying. I get hating how slow Valve was to turn the game around. I get hating the game for what it is, I truly do.

But what do you get by staying here and typing out "Daed game hurr hurr hurr" over and over?

I mean, the game isn't doing too hot, but there's a huge difference between optimism and downvoting everything that is even slightly positive about the game. If you have that much free time, it's actually quite sad that you're not doing anything with it.
