Ready the questions! Feel free to ask anything (no matter how seemingly moronic).

When the first hit strikes wtih desolator, the hit stirkes as if the - armor debuff had already been placed?

There's no desolator in this game yet.

Visual And GUI Suggestions From Someone Who Is A Moron And Sucks At This Game

    Posted: 19 Feb 2019 08:17 PM PST

First let me layout my qualifications

    • I have drafted Meepo not once but twice in Phantom Draft
    • Exactly 1 perfect run after many tries
    • I made a curry dish for my fiance and told myself to wash my hands after handling the hot peppers but than immediately decided to take a piss instead and made my junk burn like fire
    • I've actually confused a glue stick for chap stick
    • I still play artifact
    • I care enough about artifact to waste a few hours making this post

Now that I got the moron part out of the way there are a few things that really bother me about this game.

    1. Stop making me do math
    2. The tutorial is garbage and is a crap load of information coming at you
    3. See Number 1
    4. There is a lot of important information that is hard to find
    5. See Number 3
    6. Give me more dopamine please.

1.) Stop making me fucking do math. Math fucking sucks and I would know I got a degree in it. I wake up every goddamn day and wish Tom Apostol and his textbooks never entered my life but they did. I go to work every day and do more math. Stop.

The worst offender is this fucker. This guy does a lot but please.. stop making me add shit up before I play him and please save me some time since the timer is so short. Here is a suggestion using some awful MS paint skills-

This is how it is now when you are trying to play a card.

It would be really helpful for new players and dipshits like myself if we had the ability to see the effect of the card before we played it like this.

Christ this would help so much. I cannot tell you that when timer lady is going "5, 4 . . . 2, 1", I panic because I'm doing math under pressure. I don't want to think about math, I want to think of what the opponent is going to do next and this helps save me so much time.

I feel like the consequences for fucking up something small can be game losing and is goddamn infuriating. Please prevent me from doing that.

Now can I see the impact to the tower and which units will be killed before I play the card. I know some /r/iamverysmart users will say this removes some skillcap and I get that. Maybe do this only for casual modes or disabled for tournaments?

    1. The tutorial suckssssssssssssss. I played this game with a friend of mine who is a real smart dude and his exact words were "I won but I don't really understand what is going on but I finished the tutorial". I sat down and played the game more with him and surprise, he ended up enjoying the experience.

I don't have great feedback here but I do think that more baby-steps are needed for new players (which I guess are an extinct species). Here is one shitty idea:

Create a single player mode that introduces basic deck-building. As an example - ask the user to take down a tower in 3 turns using a 20 card deck from a pool of 80 cards.

Valve, you created some awesome fucking lore in the game. Use it. Incorporate it into the tutorial. Get me fucking yoked to see Sorla Kahn pillage some poor souls villages and ruin their lives.

    1. Story time. I tried to using grazing shot on an Axe and it did not go over well. Didn't play for a week out of embarrassment. Yes, I know the tutorial fucking tells me what armor is but armor is basically algebra and algebra is math. Please show me what the card is going to do before I use it, fuck up, then rage quit and never play again . Hearthstone does this really well. Here is how they do it. Boom, giant skull = death. Thank you.

In a similar manner, please show me that beautiful X when I hover over a hero with a card that can kill it.

Better yet, do it like slay the spire (which is an awesome game that actually made me like Artifact more). I wasn't able to get a screenshot, but when an enemy has a debuff, you can hover the card over it and the text of the card will change to reflect how much damage you will do when attacked. For example an enemy may have a debuff that causes it to take 50% extra damage. When you have a card that normally does 6 and you're targeting the minion with the debuff, the card text will change and say "Deal 9 damage".

So if grazing shot is targeting an Axe, change the text to say "deal 0 damage".

    1. Hard to find info. Christ this game is complex. Stop making it harder. How on god's green earth does Hearthstone allow you to show like 7 of the last actions but I can only find the last one in Artifact. Can you at least show the board state or something before the last card?

Also please add to the opponent deck tracker. I have no idea what some of the signature cards do but im pretty sure if my opponent plays an Outhouse Developer, then he's gonna have 3 of those signature cards in his deck. When I open the deck tracker can you just show me the cards I KNOW are in his deck. I literally just fucking learned that double clicking the heroes in the fountain will show you the cards and now I'm furious that I didn't know that sooner.

Also show me the card I'm holding in the Shop.

    1. Please show me how much gold I am about to make if the lane plays out as it is currently laid out. Say I got 7 gold currently and an opponent's hero and 2 creeps have the sexy X's on them. Please show 7 (+7) on the gold tracker. This will help with planning out purchases because again, I don't want to do Math. I realize this is fucking moronic for most people so make it an option or something.

    1. I want more dopamine. I am an addict. Give me free shit. I don't have a lot to add to this but winning isn't enough for me. Winning that one 1 casual phantom draft and getting the perfect run felt like absolute fucking garbage. It doesn't have to be a pack. Give me the option to put the santa's hat on the elves. Their heads look cold.

Bonus 7: Heroes killing heroes is boring as shit. I like the art in this game, but I'd rather see a 3D Axe show up to fucking dunk on a Luna when the combat stage happens.

    Edit- lot of typos

After rank 70 it's getting super frustrating

    Posted: 19 Feb 2019 08:07 PM PST

I get that it gets harder to level up, the higher you get ... but ... jumping from 2-3 wins to 5-10 wins to 25 wins to 300 wins (really feels like that) starting at level 70 is ridiculous.

I don't want to start playing constructed but still want something to feel good about. I won like 90% of my last 50 matches and didn't rank up.

I have seen some weird decks lately.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2019 08:29 AM PST

The minus armor from /u/burnmelt (my boi)

double edge into rend armor (next round you get a net gain of 8 armor!)

Lodestone demolition to do 20 damage to a tower.

All of these run by multiple people. I am actually impressed that people are squeezing out weird shit still.

    Hello?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2019 11:13 PM PST

Sooooo....its been almost 3 months without any new content but "tweak" that was suppose to be there in the first place. Is the game dead? Draft is getting repetitive and im not playing construct just so a guy can draw 30 cards in 5th turn and deal 20 damages to your tower with V E R Y H I G H skill and originality.
