I waited 30 mins but couldn’t play Chaos Blitz for lack of players

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 03:56 PM PST

30 minutes waiting but only 3 other players entered the open tournament. As the automated tournament only starts with 8 players, it never happened. So sad, I really enjoyed playing with that Speed Timer...

Small quirk to be considered for QOL improvement: Why doesn't the math on the board update instantly?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 09:36 AM PST

Ιs anyone else triggered by the game not isntantly showing you how much damage your tower is going to receive after every deployment? The update from the previous board state takes a couple of seconds to kick in and it always gives me the impression that I still have one more round but nope, the new variables have just been updated (usually after you draw cards) so you are dying now after all...

Similar calculations delay to appear to units as well. For example PA deploys in front of an enemy hero but takes a while foe the game to tell you she can kill it.

Also why doesnt the game show you how much damage your current board state deals next round to an enemy tower that was just destroyed? Instead you get a 0. We alreadt see that the tower has the yellow shield. Maybe that could be adjusted a bit.

On their own these are small issues. But during late game where math can get out of control this is a bit annoying.

[Bug] Stars Align mana disappears when your t1 tower is destroyed

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 02:48 PM PST

    1) I used Stars Align to increase my mana from 12/12 to 14/15

    2) Opponent used Bolt of Damacles to destroy t1 tower

    3) My ancient spawned with 11/12 mana

    4) I lost the game because I couldn't cast 2 Thundergod's Wraths to win

    5) I'm salty

Biggest Waste of Digital Cardboard in Artifact?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 11:30 AM PST

This doesn't mean worst card, I'm wondering what you feel is the most useless feeling card in the game, the weirdest design that just never seems to have a home.

My vote is Wrath of Gold. 3 Cost - Blue - Spell

Spend all your gold. Repeat one time for each gold spent: Deal 4 damage to a random ally or enemy.

Cool sounding effect/flavor but I cannot for the life of me figure out when you'd want to use this without creating some silly scenario with Damage Immunity and 3 turns to setup what can be replicated by At Any Cost.

edit: I FORGOT WATCHTOWER WHAT A USELESS CARD (thanks u/DrQuint)

Don't forget that bad monetisation is the primary factor behind the failed launch and the game's unpopularity

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 04:06 AM PST

This is a response to Kibler's recent comments about complexity killing the game.

Directly after launch, between November 29 and December 14, the game went from 60k concurrent players down to 10k concurrent players. The game lost 80% of the playerbase, around 50 thousand people, in just two weeks. The following two weeks (December 14-28) saw a drop of 20%, down to 8000 concurrent players.

So why did 50k people leave so quickly? And why wasn't there even more interest in the game to begin with?

Steam reviews might give us an insight into the attitude among the general public. These are the top 10 most helpful steam reviews, in order, from the first two weeks after launch (nov 29 - dec 14). Longer reviews have been shortened and summarized by me, the original reviews can be found on Steam.

    Buy to pay to play

    Thumbs down

Fun and varied gameplay. But there is zero way to gain cards other than pay out of your pocket.

    Thumbs down

no progression unless u pay. you can't have fun unless you pay more

466 people found this review helpful

    Thumbs down

Awesome production value, great mechanics, beautiful lore, but the game is built around a single purpose, to dump money into it.

3,165 people found this review helpful

    Thumbs up

Bought it. Received cards more expensive than game itself. Sold them for 40 bucks. Uninstalled game.

1,626 people found this review helpful

    Thumbs down

I do not recommand this game in its current state. The microtransactions are ridiculus. I only hope someday it will get a reasonable update with ways to get cards without spending money.

1,249 people found this review helpful

    Thumbs down

Amazing card game that I'm probably never going to play again because of 2 reasons. No progression and you have to pay money (for event tickets) to play ranked.

608 people found this review helpful

    Thumbs down

Despite all the praise and fun I have with Artifact, I have to give the game a negative review, however. Why? Because of the pricing policy Valve is displaying and thus, by extension, that they care more about profit than their consumers.

440 people found this review helpful

    Thumbs down

Pay for access, pay to win, pay to play outside of practice modes. Everything is pay, pay, pay. Gameplay itself is ok, but has some flaws.

831 people found this review helpful

Could the game have other flaws, such as not being fun or being too complex? Could the decline in players during recent weeks be explained by other reasons? Sure, maybe.

But claiming anything other than bad monetisation is the main reason for the game being a failure ever since day 1 requires either some really impressive arguing, or some revisionist history.

Lore masters, do LC's helm (Baneful Devotion) and LC Arcana (Blades of Voth Domosh) foreshadow near future?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 01:44 PM PST

    Description of Baneful Devotion:

As her hunt for vengeance ranged far from the surface realm and the paths of fellow man, Tresdin acquired a helm beset with a gemstone pulled from the heart of an abyssal magma flow. Though she knows not what ill effects donning it may bring, the allure of its obvious power balances the risk on a journey likely to meet ruinous end.

Description of Blades of Voth Domosh:

Set in her vengeance against the abyss, Tresdin approached the baleful armorer Qwyth, who gifted to her these hellbound blades. Though she obtained the swords without cost, she may realize too late that the price extracted for wielding such incredible power could be more than she is willing to part with...

Will Rix take The Oath, defeat LC and then LC will seek revenge and slowly become demonic (since blades are demonic and with them she speaks Ozkavosh - a language of demons).

So next set can focus on Rix and 3rd set can focus on demons.

Edit: I am not a lore guru, just a stranger.

Also it seems like LC will win, then Underlord will destroy Stonehall and LC will seek revenge for her fallen city.

Did valve patch out the ability to load puzzles?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 04:45 PM PST

I just tried to play the dark night puzzle and when I entered the command into the console to launch it I got a message saying "game does not support save/restore" and the puzzle does not launch. I have not loaded any puzzles previously so it's possible there's an error on my part.

    Has anyone else encountered this?

Edit: got it working with a different puzzle so it was definitely and error on my part.
