All Artifact needs is more cards, ladder, and interesting way to reward game time with card packs.

    Posted: 10 Feb 2019 12:40 PM PST

A healthy playerbase can be sustained when there are a lot of cards, a competitive ladder, and compelling way to get card packs outside of having to go infinite in prized play.

Y'all over here talking aboutwriting 800 word essays about changing arrows and making games shorter. Smh.

Morphling - cool concept (Attribute Shift + Morph)

    Posted: 10 Feb 2019 08:19 PM PST

Freely choose to convert half of Morphling's Health into Attack or the other way around. Morph signature converts an allied black hero into a base copy of an enemy hero for this round (able to use their passive and active abilities).

    Morphling concept

Hero's Cape might become a good item to run with Morphling (converting half (8) of its stats into damage).

Hey, fellas, just curious how the game was reviewed by big streamers in your country

    Posted: 10 Feb 2019 08:09 PM PST

Because in my country (Russia) it seems like everyone just trying to use misinformation to put Artifact into a light of "Gabe greedy ass made a game where you need to pay to pay to play".

I'm not talking about small YouTubers who basically repeat everything being said by bigger guys or literally reading someone's news/articles on video without checking anything.

I have seen person with almost 500k subscribers recently releasing second video about "why artifact is failed" and in both of this videos he hasn't said about being able to play artifact for free after paying initial cost. Neither he mentioned price of full collection or how cheap it is.

It is okay for YouTuber to make a video with a popular point of view instead of actually correct, still it's kinda weird to make a second video about "Valve's fail" rather than any other popular card game.

So, I'm really curious, how many times you have seen one-sided/biased review on artifact made by YouTubers in your country? Was it people who actually played the game for some time or it was some guys who played for 3-5 hours and brought an argument that it's a hard game which is unfriendly for viewers?

400 hours in game and my biggest issues are...

    Posted: 09 Feb 2019 11:07 PM PST

Background: I love the game. I'm rank 70 in both constructed and draft with a high winrate. I watch twitch streams daily. I want the game to succeed, so I'm posting this in hopes Volvo might read and take something from it. I'm not going to talk about the lack of content, a functioning ladder, or cosmetics as I'm sure those are in the works.

    1. Games can be a slog. Clicking "find a match" is a huge time commitment and very risky and stressful. I only accept these commitments because I've heavily emotionally invested myself in the game. Even so, I often end up going 2-0 or 2-1 or 3-0 in gauntlets and then letting it sit. The risk of losing a ticket or blowing a run carries too much weight. Part of the reason for this can be found below at numbers 2 and 3.
    2. The timer. It's still a major problem. The most fun matches are the ones where your opponent thinks and acts quickly and it's an exciting back and forth brawl. I'd rather misplay ten times in a row due to a fast timer than have to spend half my afternoon as a zombie clicking pass for a slow mono blue player. +5 seconds for every action is too much.
    3. No prizes. This has been repeated a hundred times, but part of the reason games are so stressful is because if you lose, you have nothing to show for your time. People like building things, accumulating things, winning things, investing in things. I absolutely despise MTGA's dead board states and land screw system, but one thing the matches aren't is stressful. Besides being relatively quick, you know you are "earning" something even if you come out the loser. You are building your collection, you haven't just wasted your time, you've grown your account in some way. There are different levels of "risk" that you can take, depending on how much you want to invest yourself at that moment.

    Lesser issues:

    1. Drab visuals. I imagine Artifact if they jacked up the visual flare to an absurd level. Imagine if there were colorful particle effects flying everywhere from spells, board-wide lens flares, nearly anime-style effects from certain actions. People love the duel animation because it's a unique and in-your-face colorful piece of art. Exaggerate everything, make it bold and bright and colorful and crazy. Think of how much fun the visuals are for fighting games these days.
    2. Monetization. I actually think the market is a great idea. However, the obsession with trying to maintain card values is not. I have plenty of cash wrapped up in cards and I would prefer to see it all evaporate if it meant re-invigorating the game. Besides, values have crashed regardless. It's time to stop trying to protect card values.
    3. Super-tilt RNG. Don't get the wrong idea, I actually like most of the RNG in the game. In fact, I'm mostly fine with the typical complaints of arrows and flops and locks and whatever. My problem is every now and again everything will simply converge to absolutely trunkroll you. Like, the perfect storm of flops and arrows and draws and jinadas and multicasts for multiple games in a row. I'm a patient guy, but even I will legit trunkroll myself right out of the game on these occasions. I don't really have any solutions to this besides reducing some of the multicast-style mechanics.

    That's all, thanks for reading!

Doesn't the Dutch gambling law affect Artifact in any way?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2019 12:59 PM PST

"The regulator has looked at the most popular games with loot boxes. If the items can be traded, the games are in violation. This applies in any case to these popular games: Fifa18, Dota2, PubG and Rocket League."

Wouldn't that also apply to Artifact?

I can buy a pack of cards, and the cards that I get are tradable.

Does anyone have the same issue? It just happens recently on my windows 7. I checked CPU temp, it's fine. Not sure if it's problem with my VGA. It works fine with DOTA 2 high setting.

    Does Artifact need animated cards?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2019 04:55 AM PST

I have 300 hours on Shadowverse, and the "feel" is magnificent, from the basic artworks to evolving, attack animations, animated cards... they're just AMAZING. Having things animated should help players enjoy their games much better than a solid static board like Artifact. Don't get me wrong, Artifact graphic is great but even a roping game like Hearthstone when I'm waiting for opponent reaction I felt good to look at my Golden Tyrion Fordring, or any other golden cards. Having animated cards to collect, help the Deck a better look and a more living board in Artifact maybe never gonna happens, right?

Artifact Math Puzzle #8163 - Check My Math

In today's StanCifka tournament, there was a spot where naraj had Unsupervised Artillery in the left lane and put his heroes there (bottom of the screen in the picture). He would then have 1 less unit than Stan. What are the chances that naraj flat out wins with the correct arrow and placements?

    https://i.redd.it/ykjulwnrhtf21.png

1/2 Stan's unit goes left side 1/4 blank space lands on an edge (left) 1/2 straight arrow Stan survives 1/4 right arrow Stan DIES 1/2*1/4*1/4 = 0.03125 1/4 left arrow Stan survives 3/4 blank space lands in a middle spot 1/2 straight arrow Stan survives 1/4 right arrow Stan DIES 1/2*3/4*1/4 = 0.09375 1/4 left arrow Stan DIES 1/2*3/4*1/4 = 0.09375 1/2 Stan's unit goes right side 1/4 blank space lands on left edge 1/2 straight arrow Stan survives 1/4 right arrow Stan DIES 1/2*1/4*1/4 = 0.03125 1/4 left arrow Stan survives 1/4 blank space lands on right edge 1/2 straight arrow Stan survives 1/4 right arrow Stan survives 1/4 left arrow Stan DIES 1/2*1/4*1/4 = 0.03125 2/4 blank space lands in a middle spot 1/2 straight arrow Stan survives 1/4 right arrow Stan DIES 1/2*2/4*1/4 = 0.125 1/4 left arrow Stan DIES 1/2*2/4*1/4 = 0.125

    Total: 0.03125+0.09375+0.09375+0.03125+0.03125+0.125+0.125 = 0.53125. 53.125% chance of loss.

If there is an easier way or shortcuts to figuring out "simple" spots like this, do tell!
