Just a reminder that Artifact still costs 3x the price an AAA game on poorer countries Posted: 11 Feb 2019 08:55 PM PST Resident Evil 2 launched for 130 R$ (brazilian real). Artifact costa 80 R$, and them if you buy all cards at 66 $, or 250~ R$, for a grand total of 330 R$. Marketing the game for Dota players, who in its majority are from poorer countries, then using USA economy as a pricing point... 200 IQ play right there. [link] [comments]
Twitchchat deck voting overlay Posted: 11 Feb 2019 05:11 PM PST I think it's fun trying to win with garbage meme decks, so I'm working on a stream overlay that will let viewers submit and vote on decks for me to play. Example
Thanks! edit: Thanks to everyone who stopped by, it was pretty fun! aquin1313 created a monster of a deck I wonder if anyone can manage to win with it lol. I think another day I'll try playing one of my friends where we both have to use decks from chat. I'll post the overlay for other people to use once it's finished. [link] [comments]
Help me understand a complaint I hear a lot. Posted: 11 Feb 2019 05:52 AM PST I completely agree there are big issues with the game at the moment. I'm a huge card game fan and a huge DotA fan so I was crazy excited about artifact but only played it for a week or two until I got bored so I'm in no way saying any criticism is bad but this one gripes on me. People keep saying you have to pay to play the game even though there is a free draft and constructed mode, when you point this out they say well that's not fun because it's free entry so people don't take it seriously. It feels like people want a paid game mode but they don't have to pay for it. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Feb 2019 09:21 PM PST Before the holidays they updated the game, added progression and now we hear nothing. I love the game but I just want some idea of the direction the game is going [link] [comments]
To the dev who animated the Imps Posted: 11 Feb 2019 07:48 PM PST Wow, my gosh you are talented (whoever you are within Valve). The imp animations are really professionally done, kudos to you. Flawless. What a great thing to have on your CV to show to future companies that your code rocks! (As a side note, I wish Valve had asked you to instead put your efforts into animating some cards since I feel that the imps don't add much to the game. For example, I would prefer that Sorla Khan places a ladder on the enemy's tower when she attacks and is unblocked). [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Feb 2019 03:09 PM PST Ogre Spirit! Can a rag-tag group of heroes use their unique skills and abilities to defeat a horde of Ogres?I've been appreciating the work people have been putting into their puzzles and I thought I'd add my own to the mix. I also am not sure about the difficulty. I -believe- there's only one way to win, but as you explore your options the path should be made clear. (If there's any way to prove someone wrong though the internet will do so) My goal was to make a puzzle that kindof felt like a real scenario, but also controlling what the computer was going to do with it. So view a lot of those Ogres as standins for the other heroes. Objective: Win! In any way you can figure out how to do so! I've hidden the cards in the text file so you won't accidentally see what cards can be drawn or what your opponent has. You can look up the card values if you don't want to explore. Here's the puzzle! https://pastebin.com/KuBw2p3z HOW TO PLAY THE PUZZLE:
Thanks to everyone who has paved the way to make this easy to setup and share! MORE PUZZLES TO PLAY:"Dark Night 2 and Versus Storm" by Anomidae "Mana Break" by martianmangaka [link] [comments]
Chaos is a Ladder - and so is Artifact Bitcoin League Posted: 11 Feb 2019 07:50 PM PST Note: This is an internal communication meant for ABL community members, as such it should be considered propaganda. It is reposted here in purely for the possible interest of those on the outside looking in. The first week of the new Chaos-Is-a-Ladder project was a great success! A special thanks to all who played and especially to all those sacrificed their time and energy to admin or do other behind the scenes work. Now the first week is over, we have learned much and I would like to share with you, the ABL community, what has been happening. Our new Chaos Admins achieved nearly perfect coverage, with only a few lobbies missed. They said it couldn't be done, they said it was impossible, but we proved the haters wrong. An international team of dedicated volunteers can indeed host an hourly 24/5 schedule. How did it happen? It was the love of the game. Nothing else can explain the dedication and devotion. Hats off to these heroes. Even I sometimes wonder how such amazing people exist and found their way to Artifact Bitcoin League. From lobbies of 16 or less to regularly getting 60+, player count has risen incredibly fast. Feedback from players has also been great. Many people have stated ABL is the only reason they still play Artifact. We are all looking for something else to do than grind increasingly worthless tickets and packs. Personally, I was only interested in tournaments when I purchased Artifact. It is my objective and hope that this project will be jump start the tournament scene needs for some players to come back to the game. I know the rest of the ABL team is as anxious as I am to see this coming week's players count. Nothing is greater validation that we are on the right track than higher player counts. In the end, it is all about the players. Come play a lobby or two, even if you don't expect to get into the top 128. One failure has been the continued fragmentation of the artifact tournament community. Only a small minority of our admins are seasoned admins from other tournament groups. This is in contrast to what I see as a more united player base. Players from China, CIS, SEA, EU, and SA have led the way in joining the Chaos Ladder and making ABL a success in general. We are still surprisingly lacking players and admins from the NA region. Perhaps it is the American sense of individualism that is causing a disconnect. I still hope over the coming weeks more NA players will not only play, but also step up to host lobbies. Now the part everyone wants to actually read: the leaderboard. Another ABL hero, cat0ftheyear, has been sacrificing his nights and sleep to automate the leaderboard. A key problem here is the lack of an official or even beta API for Artifact lobbies. We are dependent on convoluted data collection and manual correction of faulty data. As of now, we have figured out a system for keeping track of the top eight placement from each tournament. We have cut this down from top sixteen for the following reasons: • An error in the data collection forces an admin to manually enter each winner individually. Across 480 lobbies for this month, that is an intimidating amount of data entry. • This last week, about 20% of the lobby ATCs did not parse correctly. Admins are manually entering in all this data right now. • In an effort to reduce the number of data collection errors, we are limiting the number of finishers the bot is required to look at for each lobby. Changing from top sixteen to top eight will reduce the potential number of errors by more than half. • Thanks to the amount of data we were able to collect the first week, we were able to narrow down the cause of most of the erroneous data collection issues. However there are still one or two bugs that we cannot work around. • This week, we are testing the stability of the bot and lobby admin methodology. To obtain more insightful and actionable results, we are temporarily reducing the points to top eight only. • After we figure out the the right workflows, we will go back to top sixteen. This can and will be done retroactively once we can stomp out the bugs. • Apologizes to anyone really counting on their 9th-16th place finishes to get them into the top 128 for the main event. If this is unacceptable, please wait until next month to play. I am sure we will have it figured out by then. • Please don't message cat0oftheyear asking about your personal points. He is already holding a dagger to his own belly, ready to commit seppuku if he fails to write a bot up to his standards. • I assure you he/we are aware of your issue, it is the same issue everyone else has. You were in a lobby where the bot could not properly verify the data given to it, and so the points were not added to the leaderboard. The more time he spends addressing individual concerns, the less time he has to actually code a functioning bot. • I encourage flooding cat0oftheyear's inbox with any and all messages of praise and thanks if you got a spare minute. He might not respond but I assure you he will read them. That's all for now. Again, a sincere thanks to all the volunteers who are making this happen. As you may or may not know, I got incredibly busy IRL and as a result had to reduce the number of hours I can contribute to ABL. These volunteers are the ones making ABL happen right now, not me. Please thank them whenever you get the chance. See you on the river, -Opsy [link] [comments]

Should Artifact Base Set Go Free Upon First Expansion Release? Posted: 11 Feb 2019 11:02 AM PST Would Artifact be able to go F2P by releasing an expansion, compensating current players who paid with tickets or expansion packs and then making the original set completely free? This would allow new players the ability to play with the entire base set and earn expansion packs. Sure you might argue you can't "compete" (at least at a high level) with only the base set but the same could be said for any CCG. It would be impossible to play Hearthstone competitively with only the free cards but you could slowly improve your deck with the free packs/tickets provided and win more. Predictions for mechanics and heroes in the next big patch? Posted: 11 Feb 2019 08:12 AM PST Title. Also, what heroes do you want to see added and what kind of cards need to be introduced to entice people to return? Personally I would like to see Arc Warden in some form (Flux doing damage to units when they are alone, Magnetic Field to prevent outside damage, maybe even Tempest Double as a signature card) and I think introducing some form of interaction outside of the current lane would be neat, specifically in the form of Wisp Relocate, perhaps as an innate ability. Don't expect F2P anytime soon. The Marketplace is fundamentally incompatible with F2P Posted: 11 Feb 2019 07:57 AM PST A lot of people seem to be holding onto the hope that F2P will save the game, but the way Valve implemented the Marketplace into the game makes F2P impossible for a simple reason. If cards are available for free through grinding, then botters will simple make free steam accounts, grind cards for free and sell them. Unlike other games like Hearthstone, you can directly exchange the cards for steam money, so banning a botter's account does nothing because they've probably already cashed out the account and made another one. It's already hard enough for game developers to fight a war with botters, but the ability for botters to cash out an account through the marketplace makes it essentially impossible. If they make Artifact F2P, then all the card values will crash to essentially 0, and the game's monetization won't work at all. Therefore, Valve would have to remove the marketplace functionality from Artifact to make it F2P. The marketplace is basically the only reason for Artifact's existence, so that seems incredibly unlikely. [link] [comments]
What is the minimum collection cost? Posted: 11 Feb 2019 02:02 PM PST If all cards dip to the minimum possible value, how much would a full collection cost? [link] [comments] |
