Posted: 22 Jan 2019 10:38 AM PST I'm an Artifact hater. Each morning, I wake up, get out of bed, start my computer and go make some coffee. Then I open r/Artifact and check new posts. How dare they to be positive or optimistic! How dare they to enjoy this game! I won't let them do to Hearthstone what they did to Heroes of the Storm. So I downvote every single new post. I'm an Artifact hater but I'm not alone: the other Artifact haters are with me too. When I arrive at work I hide my cellphone because Walmart forbids them. But I have a plan. I have the Reddit app already open on the new posts feed. When I'm shelving the new arrival of 2XL panties, I sneak my phone out and start downvoting again. Sometimes I post too. My favorite posts are statistics on player counts. I love hating Artifact. Then I arrive at home. I open Twitch and spam "daed game lul" in chat or "ReTuRn To GwEnNT" when Swim is playing. I always have Reddit on the other screen tho, so I may continue my downvotes. I also browse 4chan because I love 2012 memes. Then I go to sleep. But sometimes I wake up just to hate Artifact. I'm an Artifact hater. [link] [comments]

6 hours in and I love this game...why the hate Posted: 22 Jan 2019 09:03 PM PST So i purchased the game today so far have had a great experience. Before purchasing I would like to say I have avidly played heartstone since 2015-2019 and MTG for a few months in 2017. Opened five free packs, got like $4 worth of cards, insta sold them (awesome feature) and proceeded to hand pick a deck that I felt was competitive (from the market). Currently like 3-1 online, very confused why everyone dislikes it. The cards are so much cheaper than in games like Heartstone (with no crafting system ), and the play-style is inherently unique compared to say MTG online. Sure progression isn't great but I can easily notice that the more I play I make less mistakes and develop new strategies, so clearly I'm getting better. So yea only issues I see are lack of progression/customization (different dragons/medals/etc) and maybe the price should be like $10 or at least have a few free weekends. [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Jan 2019 09:05 AM PST Good time of the day, guys! I've mentioned before how important for us your help and support! Once again, I want to thank each of you! You gave us a lot of good and bad comments about our first Artifact tournament MT: Strength. We used them to improve the quality of Agility. We want to move MT: Intelligence to another level. That's why I have for you a few questions:
Best regards! Edited Guys, I will be back in a few hours at 21:00 CET! Don't go away! (Sorry) I am back! [link] [comments]

This sounds kinda stupid but what if heroes could just...walk to another lane? Posted: 22 Jan 2019 10:08 AM PST So a big complaint I hear repeated is that without Blinks or TPs, heroes just get stuck in their lanes a lot. Obviously in Dota, it's trivial to just move to another lane, so I wonder if that concept can be applied to Artifact. Here's my proposal: Any hero can simply walk to another lane (don't know what the UI is, maybe drag the hero to another lane?) What does "walking to another lane" mean? They simply go back to the deployment area as if they TP'd and will redeploy next round...BUT your opponent knows where your hero is going. Two big differences from a TP: 1) Your opponent has full awareness of where your hero is going. Symbolize this by showing the lane number underneath the hero icon, a big fat arrow pointing to their destination, or something like that in the UI. Similar to in Dota when you see your opponent walk away from mid and you warn your bot lane, your opponent can prepare accordingly in anticipation of that hero arriving. 2) Your hero does not get healed. They're not going back to the fountain, they're just moving lanes. Obviously this effect will skew the power-level of movement cards so those would have to be balanced accordingly, but I'm not going to go into that or this post would go on forever. What do you guys think? Too much? [link] [comments]
Artifact is still missing a lot of mechanics in dota that makes the game interesting Posted: 22 Jan 2019 01:11 PM PST After coming back to the game and played some rounds, the game mechanics are rarely scratching the surface of what's to come. First there's magic immunity, one of the strongest thing in dota that's not in the game yet. Right now you can't really play around a tide with ravage ready. He's gonna hit you and there's no way to make sure you won't get stunned. If BKB comes along, this would be huge. And there's dispels, euls, lotus orb with the reflection. There are many targeted spells in artifact that will need a second thought before using it on someone. Hex. One of the strongest lock down that's almost impossible to fight against, one crucial hex can win the game for you. Invisible, exploring invisibility in artifact would be interesting, riki, glimmer cape, shadow blade even. Magic resistance. Veil of discord or pipe of insight could potentially separate how damage work in artifact, from physical to magical. Force movement or root. For now you can't really stop someone from using blink, but rod of atos and such aren't in the game yet, same goes to force staff. Attack range modifier, dragon lance, psi blade. Life steal, a satanic, or vlad would be interesting to see. These are just from the top of my head, and we are not even talking about heroes, such as doom, void, elder titan that can turn the fight if used properly. TLDR: long haul boys, the amount of things they can bring from dota much more than what we have now. [link] [comments]

A PSA for the players invited to the Artifact OGA PIT Series (who shouldn't have been invited) Posted: 22 Jan 2019 01:45 PM PST 14 out of the 32 contestants should not have been invited. We all know this. THEY know this! But that's not what this post is about. If you are one of the 14 invited players, the least you could do is tweet that you're competing in the tournament. Of the 14 invited players, only TWO have tweeted or retweeted about the game they could potentially win money from. That's appalling! [link] [comments]

Is this game worth picking up? Posted: 22 Jan 2019 08:09 PM PST Hey big mobas fan but I only played Hearthstone before, is this game worth picking up? Looks kinda confusing. How active is the community compared to Hearthstone and is it easy to just pick up and play? Thanks. [link] [comments]

The Artifact Game Experience Survey Posted: 22 Jan 2019 02:13 PM PST Hello everybody! I'm a long time lurker who just recently joined the r/artifact community. I play Artifact since the launch week, and even if I am a casual player, I always read this subreddit. As most of you will know, a lot of people post here to express their concerns about the game. This often give rise to some interesting discussions and sometimes to mere repetitions of the same complaints which (probably amplified by some trolls) contribute in spreading a quite toxic atmosphere. I came up with an idea that could potentially help in understanding what is wrong and what is right with the game, and in turn stimulating some interesting discussion: running a survey. My goal would be to systematically explore how players approach the game, how they feel when playing it, and what they like/dislike about it. For this I adapted some items from two psychological questionnaires (The Game Experience Questionnaire - IJsselsteijn, de Kort & Poels 2013; the MEEGA+ Questionnaire - Petri, Gresse von Wangenheim, Borgatto, 2018) and combined them with a section to gather demographic information, such as how often people play the game and which game modality. This could potentially help in the interpretation of other data, such as the low player number, by giving them some context. I hope to collect a decent amount of data and then share the results (and maybe the full dataset) with you in a couple of weeks, with the hope of stimulating a constructive discussion and maybe inspire some interesting analysis. If you like this idea here is a link to the survey! Cheers [link] [comments]
Why does it feel like Valve has forsaken this game? Posted: 22 Jan 2019 09:48 PM PST Every day I visit this sub looking for some sign of life.... What are Valve doing right now? Their game is in dire need of updates and thr community in need of communication. People and Critics right across the internet are crapping on Artifact right now and its devs are silent regarding its fate. Why are they doing this? [link] [comments]
Predicting the most likely heroes to be in in the next card set. Posted: 22 Jan 2019 10:57 AM PST I took a break from complaining about rng to talk about some lore found in the cards on my stream. Ill write a summary below for people who dont want to watch me ramble for 20 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfDmsDom4Nc TLDR: Faceless Void, Silencer, Vengeful Spirit and Shadow Fiend are the only heroes not in the game currently that have voice lines in current cards. If they already had those voice actors at Valve HQ, it's very possible they got them to record many more voice lines for those hero cards at the same time. There are other heroes that have no voice lines but are still referenced a bit in the current card set. Lina is referenced the most amount of times followed by Dark Willow, Rubik, Slark, Techies and Tusk. There are more heroes that are only pictured or talked about 1 or 2 times like Kunkka in [[Clear the Deck]] so it's unsure how important those references are. Lore-wise a lot of people are predicting the next card set in general to focus around demons such as Shadow Fiend, Shadow Demon, Doom etc.. based on the card text found in [[The Oath]] and [[Troll Soothsayer]] [link] [comments]
Draft Timers Deciding the Game, Difficult to Learn or Improve Posted: 22 Jan 2019 09:28 PM PST I was just in a close game, where I was ahead in two lanes. I was working out the lethal for the following turn and had zoomed over to another lane to try to plan ahead. I am always running down to the end of the rope in draft. It cannot avoid it; it just takes that long to try to make good plays with cobbled-together decks. At some point, you stop getting warnings. There is that 30 second countdown once, but then after going through several more lanes the warnings just stop happening. While zoomed in on the other lane, suddenly the defeat screen appears blind siding me. I was going to win that game. Please increase the timers. At least for draft. Even when I don't get surprised by the loss, I feel like the timer is having an undue affect on my games. It is super stressful, it is keeping me from being able to think through turns and to improve, and it is causing sub-optimal plays on both sides. This needs to change! Edit: To those who disagree, I ask you to imagine trying to learn to play chess at a high level with your only way of practicing involving an aggressive, blitz-style timer [link] [comments]
Does F2P really make market unusable? Posted: 22 Jan 2019 07:40 PM PST I mean I don't see a reason why the game could't be F2P with market preserved. Not only for cosmetics, but also for cards. Let's imagine Valve will set treshold of each card costing just at least 0.05USD. If you want to sell your cards, your listing goes on queue and when it's your turn, your cards get sold for that price. I understand it would devalue cards, so thats why the threshold. If you want to grind, no problem, just grind your collection. If you want specific cards or whole collection, you can just buy it for 0.05USD per card. Valve gets their cut, everybody is happy -> you can sellout, you can get whichever card you need without need to grind packs, without the nonsensical dusting devalue system. The only "negative" outcome is there won't be axes for 5bucks. [link] [comments]

Posted: 22 Jan 2019 02:29 PM PST I'm pretty interested what they come up with for the next expansion (or even the next balance patch seeing as how they added Quicken and Equip Effect recently). There's a lot of easy ones to think of coming from Magic (hex / spell shield, can't be targeted by spells, first strike, etc), but let's try to think of ones that could be specific to Artifact's design. My idea: Stealth: During the deployment phase, position this hero in any empty combat space in any lane. The idea is that they get a positional advantage since they are able to sneak up on their opponents. [link] [comments] |
