Posted: 12 Jan 2019 05:23 AM PST Yesterday I had an 170 likes post removed from the frontpage, with no message from the mods. So I went to the rules and saw this, memes aren't allowed (or whatever a mod want to call a meme or a shitpost). I guess rules are rules, but I don't think that it's smart to a community already deprived of content and followers to narrow down even further the number of things it's users can post. I won't be spending more time trying to come up with fun stuff just for it to be taken down by an unspecific rule that can be used at any time against me. Guess that's it, with Artifact comedy banned guess there is no point for me to still hang around here. Hope you guys enjoy talking about "card of the day", dead game, market price and monoblue. Had a lot of fun trying to bring at least some content diversity to this place but guess that's not how things work here. Here is some of my shitpost: See you guys around, gonna try my luck in /r/neopets or /r/faeria PS: thanks for the appreciation and the gold [link] [comments]

A look at what Artifact is missing with its base set Posted: 12 Jan 2019 09:27 AM PST I think Artifact has pretty nice base mechanics but that the boring cards are leading to very samey gameplay and in general will fail to be fun to people who don't grasp or just care that much for the strategic aspects or min-maxing. Anyone who has experience with card games will be baffled at how very basic the cards are and for a game that seems to want to be a more competitive and complex alternative to other card games it feels very weird that the cards are simpler than Hearthstone's while some even manage to have dumber RNG. What big elements does the base set lack? Synergy cards: There's like one card with The Oath that encourages either making an aggressive deck with tinker / sorla or go all out on improvements as it has the very unique restriction that only allows that type of card to be cast in the lane. Zeus / Ogre has a spell related ability trigger but besides that almost all effects and creatures are very isolated in their effects and while it can lead to swarm, aggro, ramp and control gameplay it'll feel very dry, linear and unappealing. Where is the creep spawning small dudes for every spell cast? Where is the shit that gets buffed or gets a ping whenever you play another creature? So many cards have very boring abilities kind of like Bristleback where it's this snowballing bonus whenever you happen to get a kill or a slow at the end of the turn you get a buff which feels super linear and usually doesn't lead to very interesting gameplay. There's a few exceptions to this with Luna which I consider a nice and fun designed hero but she's very isolated from all other cards too and in general it's mostly just about keeping her alive to keep her effect going and when you consider the eclipse strong enough to use. So many cards in Artifact are designed to work on their own and it ends up feeling like individual math and stats being pushed around rather than pieces of some larger idea. And I mean just show a new player R/B killer, R/U control and R/G ramp and they might think it's the same type of deck just because of how similar the meat fill of cards are. Nothing does more than 1 thing: The cards feels like normal MTG cards where they've picked away the fun stuff. Maybe they were afraid to confuse or overload the players but I think they might've made an ever bigger sin in boring them instead. I believe that at the very low level of gameplay that card games are like rube goldberg machines where you watch and interact with this flowchart or story progression of a decks strategy unfold and if that is boring and has no allure to it you are in DEEP trouble. Artifact has made a lot of the small decisions along the path of gameplay more engaging but they've also taken out all of the easy fun and flash. There's no cards where you can chose between two effects, there's no improvement or unit with charges you can dynamically use or spend, there's no interesting timer unit / spell / improvement that has interesting outcomes or grows in an interesting way. There's no interesting requirements to cast or use abilities (besides the Oath!). There's no pay x mana and the ability grows by x. Everything is designed in a super straightforward way where their characteristics are expressed with as minimal of design possible. No "hero" cards, planeswalkers or unique and powerful units: Heroes in the game feels more like a solid mana base with stats that you can improve than real "heroes". While they provide an interesting and interactible core to your deck they don't feel very unique and there's really no interesting playable cards that fills a similar function in the game. Conclusion: If this is a rushed and incomplete base set (which would be weird considering nothing changed much through the year of closed beta) then I look forward to seeing some actually interesting cards in the game but if Artifact can't have a normal level of complexity to their cards without becoming too hard to play I fear the game might've fucked up heavily with their design. If you have a Dark Souls game where you sit down and play math puzzles vs the enemies you've succeded in making it more complex but also removed and disconnected the interaction from all flavor and fantasy fulfillment. I still have hope in Artifact but this set (together with all the other problems with the game) has me a bit worried. I guess we'll just have to see where they take it + how the next set is designed. Anyone noticing that theres actually long queues sometimes now? Posted: 12 Jan 2019 04:52 AM PST Just had a 50 second queue for constructed after having a 40 second queue for the previous game, I really hope valve pulls off a miracle before the player numbers are seriously affecting queue times and game quality. My client crashed mid Phantom Gauntlet game. Now I can't start a new draft (or abandon). Posted: 12 Jan 2019 01:59 PM PST As in title. This is Casual Draft, I can start and have completed games in Prize Draft, but it still hasn't reset. It appears as if I never started a draft, but when I click "Start" nothing happens. EDIT: This is still a problem, 8 hours later. [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Jan 2019 05:51 AM PST Having blast with mono black but sadly I didnt have Tinker and Lich yet. But I keep finding myself in need of a big finisher like ToT or Bolt for black cards. It seems the only way for me to get high damage are with oath + disciple? Tried Payday deck but I didnt get myself any high gold items yet. So should I get horn,Blade of Aposumtin forgot the name, nytasha guard and etc? Anyone wanna share your mono black deck? Kappa [link] [comments]
Match history for perfect runs "Hall of fame" Posted: 12 Jan 2019 08:50 AM PST A very cool way to see your perfect runs decks might be an specific section inside every mode (Standard and prize play), where you can always check every perfect runs decks that you have made. In the future you will be able to see every perfect run decks on their profiles. [link] [comments]

Complicated Game, Timer Instant Loss Posted: 12 Jan 2019 08:59 PM PST I'm probably an average level player (I like to think maybe slightly better than average). I play only draft. I have lost two games in a row now due to the shortened timers. I cannot parse all of the information I need in time to take these turns the way I need to. This game is just too complicated for timers this short, with instant-loss being the result. It feels really bad. Especially when I have to pay for tickets to play. This change needs to be reverted, or they need to try a middle-ground implementation. [link] [comments] |
