Artifact concurrent players dip below 1,000 Discussion

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 04:12 PM PST

Today Artifact dipped below 1,000 concurrent players for the first time via steamcharts.

Previous threads were being heavily brigaded. This thread will serve as the hub for discussion of the playerbase milestone. Comments will be moderated.

As a disabled person, I am glad that Artifact exists.

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 01:11 PM PST

I love Dota's setting and lore but I just can't do well at it since it's a little too reflex-dependent for me. Artifact lets me enjoy the setting with gameplay that doesn't require as much physical finesse.

I see lots of people hating Artifact and saying it'll fail, which makes me sad because it's great Valve's making something more accessible as I get older. I hope it keeps going strong.

I just bought another fullset (I already had one from around $250).

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 08:39 PM PST

I will sell the extra fullset when the value of a fullset has doubled.

I margin trade bitcoin derivatives for a living (I was net profitable in the -%80 bitcoin massacre last year by shorting and scalp-longing), and I'm eager to bet some lunch money that Valve isn't going to let this game die. The sentiment on this subreddit seems to be peak panic and I really can't imagine much more likely downside. It would be hard for this game to fail any harder; all Valve needs to do is say anything positive literally anything at all to rekindle the hype.

This game fucking rules and I'm putting my money where my mouth is. When there's a massive update, and if I can get in before the pump, I'll buy yet another fullset.

I am more than happy to take your cheap Artifact cards.

Suggestion: What if the left and the right shop item is the same for both players?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 04:54 AM PST

This idea came in my mind. In theory it would fix the problem of TP scroll in shops. Also it would give a strategical element to the secret shop since you can play around the RNG items better if you assume your opponent buying one. What do you think about this?

    About Artifact's translation

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 01:22 PM PST

Artifact was translated to a lot of languages, and seems like mostly of them translated heroes' names. And this is very bad to the game, because it broke some of the relation to DotA2. Every DotA player know heroes by their original names - DotA2 is also translated, but heroes' names are kept like the original version.
Earthshaker per example, we know him as simply Earthshaker. In the Brazilian Portuguese (my native language) translation, his name was changed to Terremoto (Quake in Portuguese). When I picked the game, and I imagine every Artifact player who played DotA before, I did not liked the name and I fond it very strange. But the list goes on, and every name just make me more confused. Devorador D'outromundo (Outworld Devourer), Espinhoso (Bristleback), Mago Celestefuria (Skywrath Mage), Capitão Centauro (Centaur Warrunner).

Please Valve, change heroes names to their original ones. It simply looks like a poorly fan translation when you keep it like this. I also saw people complaining about names in their language, so I think every one is pissed. lol.

The Artifact marketplace makes a come back much harder for this game.

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 07:40 PM PST

With the current state of Artifact, there has been one topic that has been on my mind as well as been a constant topic of interest on this sub, and that is of course how this game can come back.

I think we can all agree that Valve is in a unique place compared to most other companies in that they can choose to support an unsuccessful product much longer than someone publicly owned. Will they? who knows, only they do. But I think they are better positioned to resurrect a product than others.

However I do see one hurdle in Valve's way that wouldn't apply to most other games, the market. One thing that many players did when they were leaving this game was sell off everything of value to get steam bucks, heck some players even got more steam bucks back than they originally payed for.

I recently came back to a game that I had stopped playing many years ago(Warframe). I still had all my stuff! Infact some stuff that I owned had risen in value over those years. But if back when I originally stopped playing, I had the option to sell my ingame items to buy other games? Well I very likely would have done that. Which would have made my return to the game more underwhelming.

I guess what I am trying to say is the fact that people were in a way incentivized to sell off cards when they stopped playing is going to make it harder for Artifact to bring back old players.

What do you think? I would especially like to hear from anyone that left the game and sold off your cards, what would it take for you to return?

    Lodestone Demolition Appreciation Thread

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 09:12 AM PST

I've been drafting this card a lot and have had many sneaky wins with it. The other night I came down to a lane where the enemy had 3 heroes with ToT, Verdant Refuge and multiple creeps, ready to do lethal damage to my tower.

I used Lodestone and did about 21 damage to the tower to win the game.

It's saved me in quite a few late game situations.

I love this card in Draft.

Absolutely loved it! Tried to go for monoblue but couldn't.

I know most of you people probably will not care, but I feel the need to post it because I'm very happy that this game, with only the core set and after more than 200h of drafting, can still give me these moments of pure enjoyment.

    Rainbow 5-0 ft. Crystal Maiden

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 08:07 AM PST

Artifact's launch not going as expected is "fine". Lack of updates is kind of "fine". Lack of features and balance is also "fine". We as players are adaptable humans and we can understand. However, lack of communication is devastating.

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 12:06 PM PST

    Dear Artifact,

All loyality is vaporizing because of your willing lack of communication. I do not give a damn if "but its volvo bro they never speak" holds true, there is no reason for us to have any faith that you're in this for the "long term" when you certainly don't demonstrate signs of life. For this I am very sorry, because I really wanted this to work out.

Fact: It takes so little to gain so much. But when you don't even speak - you do not communicate with us - proves that this is not worth holding on to.

For the record, I bought all cards for over $250 and offloaded them today (for like $70 bucks). I have 160 hours in-game. I truly had patience. But as a consumer this is a practice I can not justify personally.

What can i do to improve my drafting?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 05:44 AM PST

I've gone from being able to maintain an infinite draft streak with 4-2 or 5-1 until the past week where I dropped to pretty much 3-2 and less even tho I have been playing a lot more than before (lost all 11 tickets I had left)

I'm using card tier lists and checking hero win rates and so on but for some reason I can't seem to win anymore

I tend to pick the highest value cards while trying to get late game cards like hides or tot if I'm lucky. I usually try and stick to 2 colours or splash a 3rd one.

Anyone has any idea how I can improve? I'm draft lvl 60 even tho that gives no indication on anything since it's just 1 rank every 2 wins it seems

Looking for people to do Social Play

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 11:39 AM PST

    Hi all,

I really enjoy playing this game with people outside of matchmaking. If anyone has an active Discord server or Steam group for Social play, or just wants to add me to their friends list to play meme decks, hit me up. :)

I have a full collection for deck sharing. My name on Steam is morphilng (mind the spelling) and my Steam picture is Joker from Persona 5. I get lots of spam friend invites so if you add me, send me a message or something so I know it's a real person.

[BUG] Audio stuttering still hasn't been fixed.

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 02:32 AM PST

There's an audio stutter issue that has been present since the release that still isn't fixed.

Effects multiple users, yet I haven't really found a common factor between their hardware which would explain this.

Skill level varies a lot between prize and standart play

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 01:37 PM PST

I played draft till level 63 on prize play and started playing standart because I didn't see any value on playing prize play anymore. On prize play I won 3 out of 5 matches and on standart I did win like 9 out of 10. How can that be? My rank and the balance should affect both modes, shouldn't it?
